Ítem Acceso abierto (Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-04-23) Untiveros Yi, Sandra Iveth; Ascanoa Olazo, Jimmy AntonioThe general objective of this study was to determine the frequency of third molar agenesis in patients aged 14 to 19 treated at Cedident Digital, Lima, in 2016. The study was retrospective, observational, and descriptive. A sample of 256 radiographic plates was used, with 144 from females and 112 from males. It was found that the frequency of third molar agenesis was 21.88%. The female gender had a higher percentage at 64.29%, while the male gender had 35.71%. The highest frequency of agenesis was observed in quadrant III, specifically in tooth 3.8. No statistically significant difference was found at the 95% confidence level in the frequency of agenesis according to gender and quadrant. Higher frequencies of agenesis were found in patients with agenesis in two third molars, and some patients showed agenesis in all four third molars (teeth 18, 28, 38, and 48). Statistically significant differences were found at the 95% level for the agenesis of teeth 28 and 48. It was concluded that in the past 10 years, the frequency of third molar agenesis is variable, but it remains in the range of 13.0% to 30.0%.
