Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge and practice of the dental amalgam removal protocol of dentistry students at the Norbert Wiener University in Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-08-07) Gimenez Ramirez, Yadira Claudia; Marroquín García, Lorenzo EnriqueThe objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge and practice of the dental amalgam removal protocol among dental students at the Universidad Norbert Wiener in Lima, 2023. A quantitative approach was chosen, and a hypothetical-deductive method was applied, using a non-experimental descriptive cross-sectional research design. The study sample consisted of 101 students from the 8th, 9th, and 10th semesters of the Dentistry program during the 2023-I period. The results showed that regarding the level of knowledge and practice of the dental amalgam removal protocol, 43.6% of students had high-level knowledge about the practices of the protocol. Additionally, it is encouraging to mention that 30.7% of these students had medium-level knowledge regarding the same practices. On the other hand, of those with low levels of knowledge, only 5.9% exhibited moderate or medium management of the dental amalgam removal protocol practices. Furthermore, at a 5% significance level, there is statistically significant evidence to reject the null hypothesis and conclude that significant differences exist in the practice of the dental amalgam removal protocol among the different knowledge groups (Low, Medium, High) in dental students.
