(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-05-11) Reyes Cumbicus, Claudia Milagros; Rojas Ortega, Raúl Antonio
The objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge regarding the regulations governing dental practice in the district of San Martín de Porres, Lima, in 2017. This was a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional, and prospective study. The sample consisted of 98 dentists of both genders from the district of San Martín de Porres, selected according to inclusion criteria using simple random sampling. The instrument used was a survey with 11 questions, validated through expert judgment, considering the Code of Ethics and Deontology (Questions 1 and 5), the Dentist's Work Law (Questions 2, 3, and 4), the Ministry of Health's Technical Health Standard No. 113 (Modified) (Questions 6, 7, 8, and 9), and the National Superintendency of Health's Regulations on Infractions and Sanctions (Questions 10 and 11). The survey included five alternatives for each question, rated as good, regular, or bad, and was completed voluntarily in person by the investigator. Results: The level of knowledge about the duties and obligations governing dental practice in the district of San Martín de Porres, Lima-Peru, 2017 was considered regular by 59%, with 69% of respondents aged between 30 and 50 years, and 69% with a regular professional practice. Conclusion: Dentists in the district of San Martín de Porres have a regular level of knowledge regarding the duties and obligations that govern dental practice in the country.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-02-09) Cueto Martinez, Arturo Alexander; Velasquez Velasquez, Roxana Pilar
This research was conducted with the objective of determining the relationship between attitudes and knowledge about the use of periodontal probes among dental professionals in Arequipa, 2022. The research method was hypothetical-deductive, with a quantitative approach, correlational type, and cross-sectional level. The instrument used was a survey, consisting of two questionnaires with 30 and 10 questions, respectively, applied to a total of 351 licensed dentists who made up the research sample. The results showed that 91.2% of the surveyed dentists had a good or very good level of knowledge about the use of periodontal probes in periodontal diagnosis, while 95.4% considered themselves to have a good attitude towards using this instrument. Finally, the research concluded that there is a moderate relationship between attitudes and knowledge about the use of periodontal probes among dental professionals in Arequipa, as a Spearman's Rho of 0.000 was obtained, with also a significant relationship according to the age, gender, and years of professional experience of the dentists.

Knowledge of aerosol-free procedures for covid-19 in pediatric dentistry by students of the Norbert Wiener University, 2021.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-06-30) Trujillo Trujillo, Obed Samir; Céspedes Porras, Jacqueline
In the current context of the COVID-19 pandemic, biosecurity and infection control protocols have become increasingly stringent in dental practice. Reducing the use of instruments and procedures that generate aerosols is one of the most recommended strategies to minimize the transmission of SARS-CoV-2. The objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge about aerosol-free procedures in pediatric dentistry among students at Universidad Norbert Wiener. This was a non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional quantitative study. The sample consisted of 270 students enrolled in preclinical and clinical courses who completed a virtual questionnaire via Google Forms. The questionnaire was designed based on recent literature and validated through expert judgment. A pilot test determined its reliability (Cronbach's alpha = 0.79). Results indicated that most surveyed students had a Medium Level of knowledge about aerosol-free procedures during COVID-19 (72.6%), which was not related to the age variable (p=0.275). However, a statistically significant relationship was found between the level of knowledge and students' age (p=0.02) and clinical experience (p=0.002). Among the five aerosol-free procedures evaluated, the best results were obtained for the Atraumatic Restorative Technique (ART), followed by the Therapeutic Sealant technique. The least-known procedures were Remineralization with Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF), Infiltrative Resins, and the Hall Technique.
