Ítem Acceso abierto Mucous retention cyst in relation to dentoalveolar pathologies in digital panoramic radiographs of patients treated at the imaging center, Lima 2018.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-11-06) Rosario Dueñas, Candy Lisseth Vanessa; Mezzich Gálvez, Jorge LuisThe purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between retention cysts and dentoalveolar pathologies using digital panoramic radiographs in Lima, 2018. This was an observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 183 digital panoramic radiographs from patients who visited the stomatological imaging center to request these radiographs at the recommendation of their treating dentist. A representative sample of 183 digital panoramic radiographs was determined through simple random sampling for proportions. The following variables were collected: retention cyst, dentoalveolar pathologies, periodontal disease, root canal treatment, pulp pathology, sex, and age. The data were processed using SPSS version 24.0. Statistical significance was determined using the Chi-square test to evaluate relationships between variables with a significance level of p<0.05. The results revealed a significant presence of retention cysts in the right maxillary sinus (15.3%). Retention cysts were more frequently observed in females and adolescents. Among patients, 9.4% with root canal treatments, 13.6% with pulp pathology, and 22% with periodontal disease presented retention cysts. A statistically significant relationship was found between the presence of retention cysts and pulp pathology and root canal treatment, but not with periodontal disease.
