Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the deensibilization therapy and the reprocessing of eye movements for the decrease of symptoms in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-11-17) Cruz Ruíz, Mercedes; Arevalo Marcos, Rodolfo AmadoObjective: To systematize evidence on the effectiveness of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for reducing symptoms in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Materials and methods: This is an observational and retrospective systematic review aimed at synthesizing the results of multiple primary studies. It is an essential part of evidence-based nursing due to its rigorous methodology, identifying relevant studies to answer specific clinical practice questions. The search was restricted to articles with full text, and the selected articles were critically reviewed using the GRADE system to assign the corresponding strength of recommendation. The systematic review of 10 articles on the efficacy of EMDR therapy in patients with PTSD was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Epistemonikos, ScienceDirect, Scielo, and Open Access. The 10 selected articles are quantitative studies, with 60% (n = 6/10) being meta-analyses, 20% (n = 2/10) being systematic reviews, and 20% (n = 2/10) being randomized clinical trials. Results: In this systematic review, the evidence indicates that 100% (n = 10/10) of the studies affirm that EMDR therapy is effective in treating patients with PTSD. Conclusions: EMDR therapy is effective in reducing symptoms in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder.
