Ítem Acceso abierto Effect on the proliferation of cancer cells by the consumption of phytochemicals from walnuts in patients with cancer(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-05-18) Ramos Villanueva, Juselly Mercedes; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea LisbetCancer, as a pathology, is not considered unique, as it encompasses more than 200 different types of cancer and is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. By 2020, it was estimated that there would be an increase to 19.3 million new cases and 10 million deaths from cancer. In Peru, the cancers with the highest number of new cases were prostate, breast, stomach, colon, and cervical cancer, with prostate, cervical, and stomach cancers having the highest mortality rates. Although cancer is considered a genetically-based disease, nutrition plays an increasingly important role. Reviews cite bioactive compounds in food that serve functions in the body and can promote good health, such as the phytochemicals in walnuts, which are beneficial for coronary diseases, rheumatism, diabetes mellitus, obesity, and certain types of cancer. There is a correlation between the regular consumption of walnuts and a decrease in cancer incidence. Therefore, a critical review was conducted with the aim of determining the effects of bioactive components in walnuts on the proliferation of cancer cells in different types of cancer. A methodology based on the principles of evidence-based nutrition was used; a systematic search was conducted in PubMed and Science Direct for publications from the last 5 years to answer the research question. After selecting the studies, the CASPE tool was applied to determine the level of recommendation and evidence. Finally, the article with the highest level of evidence was selected, and a critical comment was developed to provide a collection of practical recommendations for nutritionists and healthcare professionals.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of colorectal cancer screening in reducing mortality in adults(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-07-08) Huacho Susanivar, Cerao Rosario; Maylle Durand, Katherine; Gamarra Bustillos, CarlosObjective: To systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of colorectal cancer screening in reducing mortality in asymptomatic individuals. Methodology: This was a systematic, observational, and retrospective review. The search was limited to full-text articles, subjected to critical reading, using the Grade assessment to identify their level of evidence. Of the total 100% (10) scientific articles reviewed, 40% (4) were from Spain, 10% (1) from the United Kingdom, 10% (1) from China, 10% (1) from Canada, 10% (1) from Norway, 10% (1) from the United States, and 10% (1) from the Netherlands. Results: According to the findings of the reviewed scientific studies, 9 out of 10 articles demonstrated that colorectal cancer screening is effective in reducing mortality in asymptomatic individuals. Conclusions: The systematic review allows us to evidence that colorectal cancer screening is effective in reducing mortality in asymptomatic individuals because it is a test that provides greater accuracy in the early diagnosis of colorectal cancer in its initial stages, thereby contributing to prevention, timely treatment, and increasing the chances of a cure.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of genetic counseling for early cancer detection in at-risk individuals(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-26) Gabancho Ojeda, Carmen Rosa; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioObjective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of genetic counseling for the early detection of cancer in people at risk. Materials and method: Systematic observational and retrospective quantitative review, subjected to critical selection, using the GRADE evaluation system to identify the level of evidence, found in the following databases: PubMed, Elsevier, Springer Link, JAMA network, ASCO, where 40% are randomized controlled clinical trials, 30% are quasi-experimental studies, 10% are a correlational study, 10% are a cohort study and 10% are It is an analytical cross-sectional study. Obtaining a high quality of evidence in 40% in the studies carried out that come from the United States, and a moderate quality of evidence in 30%, 2 from the United States and 1 from Korea respectively. Results: Likewise, of the evidence found, 80% (n=8/10) show the effectiveness of genetic counseling for the early detection of cancer in people at risk. In 20% (n=2/10) no significant evidence was found on the effectiveness of genetic counseling for the early detection of cancer in people at risk. Conclusion: Research has shown that genetic counseling for the early detection of cancer in people at risk is effective.Ítem Acceso abierto Level of knowledge and practice of breast self-examination in women aged 20 to 45 years of the oncology service of a private clinic in Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-03) Medina Huasasquiche, María Macarena; Suarez Valderrama, Yurik AnatoliIntroduction: Breast self-examination, although not a diagnostic method for breast cancer, can allow women to detect changes in their breasts early, leading to a better prognosis. The practice empowers women, thus making them responsible for their own health. Therefore, self-examination is recommended to increase the awareness of women at risk. Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice of breast self-examination in women between 20 and 45 years of age. Methodology: Hypothetical-deductive research with a quantitative approach. Type of applied research of observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational design. 196 women who attend the cancer service of a private clinic will be considered and the collection technique is the survey through a questionnaire.
