Enzymatic effect of detergents diluted with tap water vs soft water in cleaning instruments
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-09) Reisman Remuzgo, Delicia Mercedes; Gómez Gonzales, Walter Edgar
Objective: Establish the enzymatic effect of detergent dilutions: Soft water vs tap water in cleaning hospital instruments. Material and methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review, the search has been restricted to full-text articles, the selected articles were subjected to a critical reading, using Jover's evaluation to identify their degree of evidence. Results: In the final selection, 08 articles were chosen, we found that 60% correspond to Brazil, with 20% we find Cuba, and finally with 10% Mexico and Venezuela respectively. The investigations were experimental and a corresponding systematic review. 62.5% of scientific production comes from Brazil, while Mexico, Cuba and Venezuela constitute 12.5% each. Of the total number of articles analyzed, 30% affirm that the conditions and quality of water are important for adequate cleaning processes and other procedures related to health, 30% are related to the properties, characteristics and conditions in which enzymes exert adequate performance. Finally, 40% were related to the processes and interventions that revolve around the use of enzymatic detergents. Conclusions: The use of soft water in the dilution of the enzymatic detergent maintains the properties and chemical activity of the enzymes efficiently, allowing their action against organic matter.

Level of knowledge about the visual inspection of the instruments in the nursing staff of the sterilization center of a private clinic in Lima.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-10-25) Rios Zapata, Mabel Irene; Basurto Santillán, Ivan Javier
During the visual inspection of the instruments, the following must be taken into account: control of cleanliness and any alterations that the material may suffer, as well as paying special attention to the conservation and validation of the functionality of the instruments. Cleanliness is verified through sight and touch, free of residues and that the instrument is dry, paying special attention to critical areas such as handles, joints, hollow cavities or toothed mouths. Any residue adhered for a long time and once dried (encrusted), produces corrosion; in addition, prolonged immersion and/or abandonment leads to damage. Traces of blood, pus, secretions, tissue remains, bone residues; steel wool, metal brushes, among others, must be sought in the instruments. The visual inspection, search for defects or dirt that could interfere with the sterilization or use methods, must be carried out thoroughly with the support of a magnifying glass or microscope and monitor on each of the items before proceeding to their preparation and packaging. Level of knowledge on visual inspection of instruments: It is the set of information available on the visual evaluation carried out on the instruments that will be subjected to sterilization to verify their cleanliness and integrity.

Reprocessing of endoscopes and gastroscopes for high level disinfection for safety of use
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-11-17) Aguilar Castrejón, Maruja Marleny; Sánchez Aguirre, Norma Teresa; Pretell Aguliar, Rosa María
OBJECTIVE: Systematize evidence related to demonstrating the effectiveness of the reprocessing of endoscopes and gastroscopes by high-level disinfection for safety of use. MATERIAL AND METHODS: "For the analysis, the most important conclusions from 5 scientific pieces of evidence published in the last 10 years were used. The information was obtained through the Lilacs and Scielo electronic libraries. The summary tables of the scientific articles were properly selected, considering their quality, objectivity, and scientific rigor of the evidence, while respecting ethical principles." RESULTS: Of the 8 pieces of evidence found, 50% (4/8) demonstrate the effectiveness of endoscope and gastroscope reprocessing by high-level disinfection, while 50% (4/8) show the ineffectiveness of reprocessing endoscopes and gastroscopes by high-level disinfection. CONCLUSIONS: 4 out of 8 pieces of evidence demonstrate that reprocessing endoscopes and gastroscopes by high-level disinfection is effective, while 4 out of 8 pieces of evidence show the ineffectiveness of this method.
