Materials and Methods: Systematic reviews were used as an observational and retrospective research design, which synthesizes the results of multiple primary investigations, being an essential part of medicine and its related areas, such as nursing, and is based on evidence considering its Rigorous methodology, identifying relevant studies to answer specific questions of clinical practice. Results: In the data search, the adverse effects of dexamethasone were examined compared to prednisone for the treatment of children with asthma attacks who go to the emergency service. Of the total of 09 articles, 08 of them show that dexamethasone presents fewer reactions. adverse effects compared to prednisone for the treatment of children with asthma attacks presenting to the emergency department, patients who received dexamethasone were less likely to experience vomiting in the department, this is It is related to the fact that it is more palatable than prednisone, which allows complete administration of the medication and reduces emergency readmissions, also highlighting the lower cost (10-17). Conclusions: Dexamethasone presents fewer adverse reactions compared to prednisone for the treatment of children with asthma attacks who attend the emergency service, patients who received dexamethasone were less likely to experience vomiting in the service, this is related to the fact that it is more palatable than prednisone, which allows complete administration of the medication and reduces emergency readmissions.Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of the use of ondansetron compared to dexamethasone for the prevention of nausea and vomiting in post-operative patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-11-12) García de la Cruz, Gliria Nathalia; Hurtado Zarate, Lorena Fiorella; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioMaterials and Methods: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, we found that 30% (03) corresponds to Iran, 20% (02) we find India, while 10% (01) corresponds to China, Pakistan, Taiwan , Mexico and Nepal respectively. Most of the randomized controlled trials have been studied, with 70%, mainly in the countries of India, Nepal, Mexico, Pakistan and Iran. Among systematic reviews we find India, China and Taiwan, with 30%. Results: According to the evidence found, 40% of the authors report that dexamethasone is more effective than ondansetron in preventing nausea and vomiting in the postoperative period. 10% report that ondansetron is more effective than dexamethasone due to its rapid action, but if it is combined with dexamethasone it is more effective than when administered alone and 50% of the authors report that the combination of both drugs is effective for prevention of nausea and vomiting in post-operative patients. Conclusions: It was evident in the reviewed research that there is efficacy of ondansetron, dexamethasone and the administration of both drugs for the prevention of nausea and vomiting in post-operative patients.Publicación Acceso abierto EFICACIA DEL USO DEL ONDANSETRÓN COMPARADO CON DEXAMETASONA PARA LA PREVENCIÓN DE NÁUSEAS Y VÓMITOS EN PACIENTES POST OPERADOS(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-11-12) Hurtado Zarate, Lorena Fiorella; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioMateriales y Métodos: En la selección definitiva se eligieron 10 artículos, encontramos que 30% (03) corresponde a Irán, un 20% (02) encontramos a la India, mientras que con un 10% (01) a China, Pakistan, Taiwan, Mexico y Nepal respectivamente. Han sido estudiados en su mayoría los ensayos controlados aleatorizados, con un 70%, principalmente en los países de la India, Nepal, Mexico, Pakistan e Iran. Entre revisiones sistemáticas encontramos a la India, China y Taiwan, con un 30%. Resultados: Según las evidencias encontradas el 40% de los autores refieren que la dexametasona es más eficaz que el ondansetrón para prevenir las náuseas y vómitos en el post operatorio. El 10% refieren que el ondansetrón es más eficaz que la dexametasona por su rápida acción pero si se combina con la dexametasona es más eficaz a que se administre sola y el 50% de los autores refieren que la combinación de ambos fármacos son eficaces para la prevención de náuseas y vómitos en pacientes pos operados. Conclusiones: Se evidenció en las investigaciones revisadas que existe eficacia de ondansetrón, dexametasona y la administración de ambos fármacos para la prevención de náuseas y vómitos en pacientes post operados.
