Ítem Acceso abierto Correlation Between Interrupted Gram Staining and Culture with Filters Using the Klebsiella Technique in the Presumptive Identification of Campylobacter sp. in Stool Samples from Children at a National Hospital in Lima, July 2015 to June 2016(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-19) Ocampo Ramirez, Lesslie Fiorella; Chuquiray Valverde, Nancy NormaCurrently, Campylobacter sp. is a bacterial agent of foodborne transmission and a zoonosis of worldwide distribution. Campylobacter enteritis ranges from watery diarrhea, without blood, to dysenteric syndrome with abdominal pain and fever, typically self-limiting and indistinguishable from gastrointestinal infections caused by other enteropathogens. The objective of this study was to determine the correlation between interrupted Gram staining and filtration culture techniques with Klebsiella in the presumptive identification of Campylobacter sp. in stool samples from children at a National Hospital in Lima, from July 2015 to June 2016. The study is non-experimental, with a cross-sectional, correlational, descriptive design. A total of 414 stool samples from pediatric patients with positive inflammatory reaction were evaluated during July 2015 to June 2016 at the Alberto Sabogal Sologuren Hospital laboratory, with 43 positive cases (10.4%) for Campylobacter sp. The interrupted Gram stain showed 46.5% sensitivity and 99.2% specificity. Although the sensitivity of interrupted Gram staining was low, the culture method can increase sensitivity, making it a low-cost strategy for diagnosing Campylobacter sp.-caused diarrheal infections.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of breastfeeding for the prevention of acute diarrheal diseases and acute respiratory infections in children under 2 years of age.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-01-19) Medina Mendoza, Angie Lizbeth; Paico Fajardo, Indira Marilyn; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaObjective: To systematically analyze the evidence on the effectiveness of breastfeeding for the prevention of acute diarrheal diseases and acute respiratory infections in children under 2 years of age. Material and method: The systematic review of the ten scientific evidences found on the effectiveness of breastfeeding for the prevention of acute diarrheal diseases and acute respiratory infections in children under 2 years of age, were found in the following information sources such as Pubmed, Redalyc, Cochrane, Epistemonikos, which were examined according to the Grade system for the identification of the degree of evidence of the published articles. Results Of the 10 articles reviewed, 40% (n = 4/10) is a systematic review, 20% (n = 2/10) is a systematic review and meta-analysis, 10% (n = 1/10) is a meta-analysis, 10% (n = 1/10) are case-control studies, 10 % (n = 1/10) are prospective cohort studies and 10% (n = 1/10) is a longitudinal study. In the 10 statements systematically reviewed, 100% (n=10/10) show the effectiveness of breastfeeding for the prevention of acute diarrheal diseases and acute respiratory infections in children under 2 years of age. Conclusions: Of the 10 scientific evidences reviewed, 100% (n=10/10) show the effectiveness of breastfeeding for the prevention of acute diarrheal diseases and acute respiratory infections in children under 2 years of age.Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of the use of racecadotril compared with the use of other treatments to reduce the hypersecretion of water and electrolytes in the intestine in children under 5 years of age with acute diarrhea(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-10-09) Aquino Santana, Pablo Alex; Dolorier Dolorier, Liz Erika; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioWe can conclude that, like the other authors, racecadotril is an effective medication for the initial treatment of children under 5 years of age with acute diarrheal disease compared to other treatments, by demonstrating a decrease in the number of stools at the beginning of therapy. It was determined that the use of this medication within the therapy for EDAs is recommended, since the adverse effects presented by this drug are minor compared to other medications used for this type of diseases.Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge about acute diarrheal diseases and its relationship with prevention practices in mothers of children under 5 years of age at Hospital II Vitarte EsSalud, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-02-02) Medina Medina, Consuelo; Gonzales Saldaña, Susan HaydeeObjective: “to determine how the level of knowledge about acute diarrheal diseases is related to prevention practices in mothers of children under 5 years of age at Hospital II Vitarte ESSALUD, 2023.” Material and Method: it had a quantitative, descriptive approach, the population was 151 mothers of children under 5 years of age, 2 instruments were used, for the level of knowledge variable, a questionnaire developed and validated by Flores was used. K, Montenegro. Y, Pacheco.S and modified by Sangaray Ayac Maraia Sandra in her research study titled “knowledge of mothers of children under 5 years of age about acute diarrheal diseases and the practice of prevention measures, agocucho health post, Cajamarca – 2021”, with validation through 11 expert judgments and a reliability with the pilot test of 10% of the sample. The results: for level of knowledge, 84.8% bad knowledge, 13.9% regular and 1.3% good. For the variable prevention practices of acute diarrheal diseases, 75.5% of mothers have unhealthy practices and 24.5% healthy ones. In relation to both, 84.8% of mothers have bad knowledge and 75.5% practice unhealthy practices. Conclusions: With a Spearman coefficient of -0.674 and a calculated significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, the relationship between the variables is direct and positive. This means that when the level of knowledge about acute diarrheal diseases increases, prevention practices improve. This is corroborated by the fact that the significance value is statistically significant.Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge about acute diarrheal diseases and preventive practice of mothers of children under 5 years of age in the outpatient consultation service of a health center, Lima 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-01-21) Perez Huaraca, Lena Marleth; Camarena Chamaya, Luis MiguelThis project aims to determine the relationship between knowledge about acute diarrheal diseases and preventive practice of mothers of children under 5 years of age in the outpatient service; To this end, an applied study was developed with a quantifiable approach, under a nonexperimental descriptive correlational design with the participation of 122 mothers as a population, mothers of children under 5 years of age, from the outpatient service and the sample was 93 mothers, who participated through two instruments: a questionnaire of 22 items for the variable knowledge of acute diarrheal diseases and another of 20 items for the prevention of acute diarrheal diseases. The results will be collected through these instruments, then processed, coded and entered into the database designed in Excel, also the results will be analyzed and synthesized by the statistical software package version 25.0 SPSS, which will allow us to obtain both descriptive and inferential results.Publicación Acceso abierto Nivel de conocimiento y las practicas sobre prevención y manejo de enfermedad diarreica aguda en madres de niños menores de 5 años en el servicio de hospitalización pediátrica.
