(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Enriquez Nuñez, Richar Gerardo; Quintana del Solar, Carmen Inocencia
According to the World Health Organization and the International Dental Federation, dental caries and gingivitis are the most prevalent oral health conditions among schoolchildren. Therefore, both pre-adolescents, adolescents, and young people must have an adequate level of knowledge about oral health. The objective of this research was to compare the level of knowledge about oral health and oral hygiene status before and after an educational intervention in children aged 8 to 13 years from the I.E. José Abelardo Quiñones - Ate, Lima, Peru, 2015. The sample consisted of 225 children aged between 8 and 13, who were given a questionnaire on oral health knowledge, and their oral hygiene index was recorded. The results showed that more than 80% of children had poor oral health knowledge, which improved to a good level after the educational intervention, with over 90% showing improvement. Also, over 70% of children presented poor knowledge based on their age group, which improved to a good level with more than 90% after the educational intervention. Regarding the Oral Hygiene Index (OHI), more than 80% of children had a poor OHI, which improved to a good level with over 90% after the educational intervention. When evaluating the children by age after the intervention, the oral hygiene index improved. It was concluded that the children initially had a poor Oral Hygiene Index and oral health knowledge, which improved to a good level following the educational intervention. It was also concluded that children with poor knowledge of oral health also had a poor Oral Hygiene Index, which changed to a good level after the educational interventions.

Effectiveness of an educational intervention on management of adverse events in undergraduate dental students at the private university Norbert Wiener, Lima 2023
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-27) Briceño Bueno, Nicet; Llerena Meza De Pastor, Verónica
The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention on the management of adverse events in undergraduate dental students at Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, Lima 2023. A hypothetical-deductive method with a quantitative approach, pre-experimental design, and applied research type was employed. The study variable was an educational intervention on the management of adverse events in the clinical practice of dental students. The population consisted of 119 students who received an educational intervention with pre- and post-tests through a valid and reliable questionnaire (KR 20 = 0.800). These questionnaires were processed in an Excel database and analyzed using the SPSS version 27 statistical software. The results provided descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that the majority of respondents were female (66%), with 45.4% of the participants aged between 18 and 24 years, and 53.6% were in their 4th to 6th semester. Furthermore, there was an increase in positive responses, from 18.1% (526 questions) during the pre-test to 22.8% (664 questions) in the post-test, showing an overall positive increase of 4.7% for the evaluated variable. The p-value analysis obtained a value (sig. = 0.028), which is less than 0.05, meaning the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. It is concluded that there is an effective educational intervention on the management of adverse events in undergraduate dental students at Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, Lima 2023.

Effectiveness of educational intervention in school health in diabetic patients in the Luis Negreiros Vega Hospital 2019
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-12-11) Gomez Herrera, Yoana Smith; Bellido Dina, Vilchez
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic degenerative disease with a high incidence in the population that can affect the quality of life of the patient and has manifestations in the oral cavity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an oral health educational intervention in diabetic patients treated at the Luis Negreiros Vega Hospital during 2019. This research was experimental, with a pre-test and post-test in a single group. The non-probabilistic sample consisted of 80 diabetic patients treated at the Luis Negreiros Vega Hospital during the February-March-April trimester of 2019. For the analysis of the results, the Wilcoxon rank test was used, with a significance level of 5% (p <0.05). The results showed that the educational intervention improved the oral health knowledge of diabetic patients, with a statistically significant difference. Before the educational intervention, 52% of diabetic patients had low oral health knowledge. After the educational intervention, 100% of diabetic patients had high oral health knowledge. It was concluded that the educational intervention was effective in improving oral health knowledge in diabetic patients. It is necessary to promote more of these educational interventions to improve the health of our population.
