Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of non-invasive mechanical ventilation in patients with closed thoracic trauma to prevent endotracheal intubation in those attending the emergency department(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-16) Perez Izquierdo, Esmilda; Arévalo Castro, Deniz Alberto; Calsin Pacompia, WilmerObjective: Systematize evidence on the effectiveness of early and timely use of non-invasive mechanical ventilation in patients with blunt chest trauma admitted to the emergency service. Materials and methods: In the present work it is a study with a systematic review design, clinical trials and meta-analysis, the population consisted of 15 articles and the sample was 10 articles published and indexed in the database Dialnet, Pubmed Heald, PubMed, Scielo, ScienceDirect. To evaluate the articles, the GRADE method was used, which evaluated the quality of evidence and the strength of recommendation. Results: After the systematic review of the articles, 30% of 100% correspond to the USA; 60% to Cuba and Greece, Italy, Canada, France and China with 10% respectively. In relation to the designs and types of studies, 80% correspond to systematic review and meta-analysis respectively; with 20% corresponding to clinical trials. Conclusions: It was concluded that 60% of the articles reviewed showed that NIV was effective, because it avoids endotracheal intubation, avoids the risk of complications associated with mechanical ventilation and reduces mortality. Leading to a lower incidence of physiological trauma allowing the lung to open and recruit.
