Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: effects of dietary potassium restriction in patients with chronic kidney disease and renal replacement therapy(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-08-10) Ochoa Véliz, Henry William; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea LisbetChronic kidney disease (CKD) is a public health problem that affects 10% of the world's population. The present research work was mainly focused on the development of a scientific critical commentary in accordance with the literary review associated with the established problem in order to know its consequences. In this sense, a clinical question was posed to be answered through the choice of an article. The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. After searching for articles, 14 were selected to be evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool. Finally, the article titled “Effect of dietary potassium restriction on serum potassium, disease progression and mortality in chronic kidney disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis” was selected, which has a level of evidence and degree of recommendation. : AI-Strong, according to the experience obtained by the researcher. The critical comment allowed us to conclude that there is significant evidence for not restricting dietary potassium in patients suffering from chronic kidney disease and replacement therapy, since it is shown that its consumption in established quantities, plus the guidance and advice of a nutrition professional, does not have a negative impact on the stages of CKD.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness and safety of intravenous iron treatment to improve hemoglobin levels in anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease during hemodialysis(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-02-17) Casanova Chamache, Rocio Jackelyne; Peñaranda Casildo, Fiorella Elizabeth; Pérez Siguas, Rosa EvaObjective: To systematically review and understand the demonstration of the studies carried out on the effectiveness and safety of intravenous iron treatment to improve hemoglobin levels in anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease during hemodialysis. Results: The quality of life of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment in the physical role, vitality, and social function dimensions was poor in the majority of cases. In the dimensions of bodily pain and general health, the quality of life was fair in the majority. In the physical function dimension, the quality of life was poor in a significant percentage. In the emotional role and mental health dimensions, the quality of life was poor for nearly half of the respondents and fair for the rest. In the dimension of self-reported health, the quality of life was good for a third of the respondents. Comparing the results across the 9 quality of life dimensions of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment, it was concluded that the quality of life was poor for most respondents. Conclusión: La relación entre los niveles séricos de cistatina C y los valores del aclaramiento de la creatinina endógena, son inversamente proporcionales en pacientes con ERC.Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between periodontal disease and chronic kidney disease in patients at Alberto Sabogal Sologuren National Hospital, Lima, Peru, 2017(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-08-15) Rodriguez Condezo, Joan Manuel; Vilchez Bellido, DinaThe research titled “RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PERIODONTAL DISEASE AND CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE IN PATIENTS AT HOSPITAL NACIONAL ALBERTO SABOGAL SOLOGUREN, LIMA, PERU, 2017” aimed to determine the relationship between periodontal disease and chronic kidney disease in the study sample. Methodology: The study employed a quantitative approach, with a basic, descriptive-correlational design. A sample of 156 chronic kidney disease patients receiving care in the Dentistry department was selected through simple random sampling. Patient information was recorded, including age, gender, duration of disease, duration of hemodialysis treatment, and periodontal disease status. Results: A strong positive correlation (0.835**) was found between periodontal disease and chronic kidney disease (stages 4 and 5). Additionally, a moderate correlation (0.415**) was observed between periodontal disease and the duration of hemodialysis treatment. The null hypothesis was accepted, as it was determined that there is no relationship between periodontal disease and the duration of chronic kidney disease.
