Coping strategies and quality of life in oncology patients at the national institute of neoplastic diseases, Lima - 2024

Objective: To determine the relationship between coping strategies and quality of life in oncology patients at the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases (INEN), Lima, 2024. Every patient attending INEN undergoes various procedures that cause psycho-emotional imbalances, making it essential for healthcare personnel to provide the coping strategies required by patients to achieve a good quality of life. Population: Composed of 80 cancer-diagnosed patients at the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases, from January to March 2024. Sample: The sample will include the entire population, i.e., 80 individuals. Methodological Design: Applied research, hypothetical-deductive, quantitative, non-experimental or observational. The technique for data collection will be a survey. Instruments: For the evaluation of the variable "Coping Strategies," a questionnaire developed by Apaza and Alejandro in 2020 in Lima will be used, with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability score of 0.872. For the evaluation of the variable "Quality of Life," a questionnaire adapted by Martínez in 2016 in Lima will be used, with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability score of 0.835. Data Processing and Analysis: Data will be processed using the SPSS statistical software package. Results will be presented in tables and figures according to the variable and its dimensions.

Effectiveness of the use of a ventricular assist device as a replacement for cardiac function in terminally ill patients

Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of the use of the ventricular assist device as a replacement for cardiac function in terminally ill patients. Materials and Methods: The design was observational, retrospective, a systematic bibliographic search was carried out in the Virtual Health Library, Scielo, Pub Med, Medline, Cochrane Plus. 10 articles were identified, of which 50% (5) correspond to the United States. , 30% (3) corresponds to Germany, 10% (1) corresponds to Australia and 10% (1) corresponds to the United Kingdom with no more than ten years of experience, the search has been limited to complete scientific texts, which were subjected to a critical interpretation, for this purpose the Grade system is used to indicate the recommendation value. Results: 60% (6) reviewed articles show that the ventricular assist device as a replacement for cardiac function in adults is effective and 40% (4) of the reviewed articles show that there are no favorable data in relation to the assist device ventricular assist device as a replacement for cardiac function in intensive care patients, since future studies still need to be carried out Conclusions: It is evident that the articles reviewed demonstrate the effectiveness of the ventricular assist device as a replacement for cardiac function, improving quality of life and prolongation of its existence.

Knowledge about palliative care in patients with terminal illness of students of the Second Specialty of Oncology Nursing at the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, Lima, Peru, year 2020

The objective of the research work is: To establish the knowledge regarding palliative care of terminally ill patients of nursing professionals specializing in oncology at the private Norbert Wiener University, Lima, Peru, year 2020. It is a study of Quantitative descriptive approach to the investigated variable. Non-experimental, cross-sectional design because no manipulation of the variable will be carried out. Methodology: The study has a quantitative, descriptive approach because it evaluates the characteristics of the investigated variable. Non-experimental, cross-sectional design because no manipulation of the variable will be carried out. The sample will be made up of a total of 37 nursing professionals from the second specialty of oncology at the private Norbert Wiener University, Lima, Peru, who will meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data will be collected through a questionnaire consisting of 18 questions which contain multiple choice answers with only one suitable answer, then they will be gathered and organized in Excel through tables that make it easy to group the information in detail to show frequency and percentages. . Subsequently, carry out a description and analysis of them through descriptive statistics.

Nursing care to reduce complications in pediatric oncologic patients with Porth catheters

Materials and Methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review that synthesizes the results of multiple primary studies. They are an essential part of evidence-based nursing due to their rigorous methodology. In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, of which 20% (2) correspond to Spain, 20% (2) to Mexico, and 60% to Cuba (1), Portugal (1), USA (1), Germany (1), Korea (1), Japan (1), respectively. The majority of studies were descriptive, with 40%, mainly from Spain and Mexico. Results: Identifying relevant studies, 90% of the 10 reviewed articles agree that if basic and appropriate care is provided to the port catheter, complications are reduced by 90%. The search was restricted to full-text articles, and the selected articles underwent critical reading using the GRADE system to assign the strength of the recommendation. Conclusions: The systematic review of the 10 scientific articles directed at nurses mostly agrees that the essential care includes: proper asepsis, heparinization of the catheter port, use of the catheter between 7 and 15 days post-placement, dressing changes every 7 days, the port catheter prevents peripheral vascular injuries. The procedure should be performed by a trained professional in the field.
