Publicación Acceso abierto Factores epidemiológico-clínicos de riesgo para prediabetes en adultos atendidos en el complejo hospitalario PNP Luis Nicasio Sáenz 2018-2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-01-09) Villegas Fernández, Mirtha Claribel; Benites Castillo, Santiago MoisesThe present research aimed to determine the epidemiological-clinical risk factors for prediabetes in adults treated in a police health establishment in Peru 2018-2019. The methodology used was the hypothetical deductive, quantitative approach, applied type, correlational level and case - control type, whose sample was 296 older adults. The results showed that the average age of the adults was 52.1 ± 7.0 years, 70.6% were women, 97.6% were married and 88.9% studied up to the secondary level. Likewise, age less than or equal to 45 years (p = 0.013, OR = 2.333, 95% CI = 1.117-4.622), physical inactivity (p = 0.001, OR = 2.510, 95% CI = 1.450-4.315) and family history with diabetes (p <0.001, OR = 2,566, 95% CI = 1,604-4,107) were epidemiological factors, while obesity (p <0.001, OR = 6,572, 95% CI = 3,936-10,972) was a clinical risk factor for prediabetes. Likewise, it was observed that, of the adults with prediabetes, 90.5% were 45 years of age or older, 33.8% did not perform physical activity, 57.4% had a family history of diabetes and 77% suffered from obesity. It is concluded that there are epidemiological and clinical risk factors for prediabetes in adults treated in the hospital in question.
