Ítem Acceso abierto Impaction of the lower third molars and its relationship with the space available for eruption in patients treated in a dental center, Lima 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-10-09) Zevallos Vivas, Karina Beatriz; Jaime Okumura, RobertoObjective: To analyze the association between the impaction of lower third molars and the available space for eruption in patients treated at a dental center in Lima, 2021. Material and Methods: A basic, correlational, and cross-sectional study was conducted. A total of 165 panoramic radiographs were used, and a Chi-square statistical test was performed. Results: Regarding the available space, it was observed that 56.4% of the cases had a 70% probability of eruption, and 43.6% had a 30% probability of eruption. For the impaction of lower third molars according to the ascending ramus and available space, the most frequent was Class II at 75.3%, with a 70% probability of eruption, 14.0% for Class I with a 70% probability of eruption, and 25.0% for Class III with a 30% probability of eruption. Regarding the position of the mandibular third molars and available space, the frequency observed for the mesioangular position was 75.3% with a 70% probability of eruption, for the vertical position 19.4% with a 70% probability of eruption, and for the horizontal position 19.4% with a 30% probability of eruption. Finally, regarding relative depth and available space, the most frequent level was Level B at 72.0% with a 70% probability of eruption, followed by Level A at 25.8% with a 70% probability of eruption, and Level C at 5.6% with a 30% probability of eruption. Conclusions: The study variables establish a significant relationship between the impaction of lower third molars and available space.
