(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-09) Soria Casimiro, Rosalia; Fernández Rengifo, Werther Fernando
The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between socialsupport and stigma in tuberculosis patients receiving care at the Jicamarca Maternal and Child Center in Lima, 2023. Methodologically, the study was structured under a hypothetical-deductive, applied, quantitative, cross-sectional, non-experimental, and correlational method. The population consisted of 80 participants, and the sample was also 80 participants as it was a census. Questionnaires were used as instruments for each variable. The results showed that the participants were predominantly male (63.0%), with an age range of 16 to 30 years (42.0%). The majority were single (43.2%). Social support was found to be moderate (73.8%), while stigma was rated as regular (76.3%). It was found that emotional, instrumental, and affective support were significantly related to stigma with a p-value of 0.000. In conclusion, this study demonstrates a significant relationship between social support and stigma, with a p-value of 0.000 and a "Rho" value of 0.572. Therefore, social support can play a crucial role in reducing stigma and promoting the well-being of individuals who experience it.

Stigmatizing attitudes towards people with mental disorders of the nurse of the Second Specialty of Mental Health and Psychiatry of the Norbert Wiener University - Lima 2021
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-05-16) Quiñonez Barrueta, Betzy Elizabeth; Mori Castro, Jaime Alberto
Stigmatizing attitudes have been present in society for a long time and people with mental disorders are no strangers to this, which leads to stigmatization. The dehumanization and depersonalization of these people by others through “labels” are stereotypes that society itself, out of fear and ignorance, acts on them. In our country, community mental health reform is being developed, however stigmatizing attitudes toward these people are present and increasing. Health personnel as promoters in the de-stigmatization process are no strangers to this. For this reason, it is important to know the level of stigmatizing attitudes already present in these professionals in order to intervene in it and collaborate in reducing social rejection.
