OBJECTIVE: Systematize the available evidence from studies carried out on lifestyle modifications for the prevention of erectile dysfunction in adult men. MATERIAL AND METHOD: The systematic review of the 10 scientific articles found on lifestyle modifications associated with erectile dysfunction were selected from the following databases Cochrane, Embase, Lilacs, Scielo, Medline Pubmed, which were analyzed according to the Grade scale to determine its strength and quality of evidence. RESULTS: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 10% (1/10) correspond to systematic reviews, 40% (4/10) systematic reviews and meta-analysis, 40% (4/10) meta-analysis and 10% (1/10) randomized controlled trials. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 90% (9/10) confirm that cardiovascular problems, diabetes, smokers and drug users have a high prevalence of erectile dysfunction in adult men and 10% (1/10) indicates that doing physical activity and maintaining an ideal weight does reduce this risk. CONCLUSIONS: The study concluded that of the 10 scientific articles, 2/10 articles showed that avoiding tobacco consumption reduces the risk of presenting erectile dysfunction; 2/10 articles reported that preventing cardiovascular diseases reduces the risk of presenting erectile dysfunction; 2/10 articles revealed that performing various physical activities and losing weight can improve erectile fusion in men; 2/10 articles showed us that by preventing metabolic diseases we can reduce the risk of presenting erectile dysfunction; 1/10 articles told us that diabetic men have a high prevalence of presenting erectile dysfunction and 1/10 articles revealed that men with high blood pressure have a high probability of presenting erectile dysfunction.
