Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the family participation program in basic patient care in the ICU(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-07-08) García Landa, Paolo César; Marcelo Donet, Ana Melina; Calsin Pacompia, WilmerObjective: To analyze and systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of the family involvement program in basic patient care in the ICU. Materials and Methods: This study is qualitative, and according to the design, it is an observational and retrospective systematic review that synthesizes the results of multiple investigations. The population consisted of 20 articles, of which 10 were selected as a sample due to their relevance to the topic. The instrument used was a comprehensive database such as PubMed, Medline, Elsevier, BVS, and Lilacs. The selected articles were critically analyzed using the GRADE system to assign the strength of recommendations and quality of evidence. In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, with 20% corresponding to Spain, the United States, and Colombia, 10% to Australia, Iran, Brazil, and Mexico. According to the study design, 10% was a meta-analysis from Australia, 20% was quasi-experimental from Iran and the United States, 30% was descriptive from Mexico, Spain, and Colombia, 30% was descriptive cross-sectional from Spain, Brazil, and Colombia, and 10% was a cohort study from the United States. Results: Of the 10 selected articles, 100% demonstrate the effectiveness of the family involvement program. Conclusions: The reviewed studies provided evidence that the family involvement program is effective in basic patient care in the ICU.
