    Creation and virtual validation in times of covid-19 of an instrument to evaluate the consumption and frequency of sugar in the diet of school children of the private educational institution, José Abelardo Quiñones, Mala 2020.

    The use of an instrument to determine sugar consumption and frequency in children is important for the uncontrolled intake of sugar and for the care of oral and overall health. Objective: creation and virtual validation of an instrument during the COVID-19 pandemic to assess sugar consumption and frequency in the diet of school children. Materials and methods: This is a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional, and prospective study carried out through the application of an instrument created by the researcher. Results: The instrument was evaluated through expert judgment, with a total result of 0.86 for the Aiken's V analysis. The modified instrument was applied to a group of 30 mothers on two different occasions to assess reproducibility, obtaining an intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.82. Finally, the instrument was administered to a sample of 219 parents or guardians to evaluate construct validity (KMO test score of 0.78) and reliability (Cronbach’s alpha of 0.89). Conclusion: The instrument to evaluate sugar consumption and frequency in the diet of school-age children was found to be valid and reliable.
