Methodology: It is a systematic review of 10 articles obtained from the Lipecs, Lilacs, Scielo, and Pubmed databases, which were subjected to a critical reading. 50% of the articles are from the country of Cuba, 20% from India, 10% from China, Mexico and Venezuela. 40% of the studies are experimental in design, 20% correspond to the design of systematic reviews, 20% to cohort design and 20% to descriptive design. Results: Of the total number of articles reviewed, 90% affirm the effectiveness of epidermal growth factor. Conclusions: Recombinant human epidermal growth factor is effective in preventing amputation in patients with diabetic foot.
