How can the knowledge that patients can acquire about the correct use of antibiotics transmitted by healthcare personnel help prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria? Objective: To evaluate knowledge about antibiotics and bacterial resistance, after an educational intervention, in patients at the López Silva Maternal and Child Center - Villa el Salvador, period July to September 2019. Methodology: This work is a longitudinal and pre-experimental study, with a quantitative approach. The sample size was 268 patients who were treated at the López Silva Maternal and Child Center during the months of July to September 2019. Results: After the educational intervention, it shows positive results since 86.4% of the patients surveyed revealed a high level of knowledge and 8.6% reached medium knowledge, only 5% of the patients surveyed presented a low level of knowledge about antibiotics and bacterial resistance. Conclusion: Knowledge about antibiotics and bacterial resistance in patients at the López Silva Maternal Center increased, demonstrating that the educational intervention had a positive effect.
