Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of open reduction with internal fixation in radius fracture for functional results(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-01-19) Zarate Santivañez, Nidia Patricia; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MariaObjective: To systematize the effectiveness of open reduction with internal fixation in distal radius fractures for functional outcomes. Material and methods: A systematic review of 10 scientific articles on the effectiveness of open reduction with internal fixation in radius fractures was conducted, sourced from the databases PubMed, Scielo, and Epistemonikos. The articles were analyzed according to the GRADE scale to determine the strength and quality of the evidence. Of the total, 50% (5/10) were meta-analyses, 20% (2/10) were prospective trials, 20% (2/10) were systematic reviews, and 10% (1/10) was a primary study. 100% (10/10) of the studies are of high quality. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 70% (7/10) demonstrate that there are indeed functional outcomes for unstable distal radius fractures treated with open reduction and internal fixation, while 30% (3/10) showed that there are no functional outcomes for these fractures treated in the same way. Conclusions: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 7 provide evidence of effectiveness in functional outcomes for unstable distal radius fractures treated with open reduction and internal fixation, while 3 do not show effectiveness for those outcomes.
