Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of ginger on the reduction of nausea and vomiting in adult patients with cancer under chemotherapy treatment(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-03-06) Carranza Paredes, Jordano Jackestuard Ismael; León Cáceres, Johanna del CarmenThe secondary research titled "Critical Review: Effect of Ginger on Reducing Nausea and Vomiting in Adult Cancer Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy" aimed to determine the effect of ginger on reducing nausea and vomiting in adult cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The clinical question was: What is the effect of ginger on reducing nausea and vomiting in adult cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy? Evidence-Based Nutrition (EBN) methodology was used, and a search was conducted in PUBMED, SCIELO, and SCIENCE DIRECT, finding 22 articles, of which 10 were selected. These articles were evaluated using the CASPe tool. The selected meta-analysis titled "Does Oral Administration of Ginger Reduce Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting? A Meta-Analysis of 10 Randomized Controlled Trials" has AII-level evidence and strong recommendation grade. The critical review concluded that ginger is significantly effective in controlling acute nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy, but not for controlling delayed nausea and vomiting.
