Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the nursing intervention in the application of silver nitrate for the treatment of umbilical granuloma in newborns(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-11-03) Brito Huallanca, Gina; Velasquez Rojas, Graciela; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MariaObjective: To systematize evidence on the effectiveness of nursing interventions in the application of silver nitrate for the treatment of umbilical granuloma in newborns. Materials and Methods: A systematic, observational, and retrospective review with a quantitative approach, using the GRADE evaluation system to assess the quality of evidence. Studies were sourced from PubMed, Lipecs, Lilacs, Scielo, Medline, Wiley, Online Library, Epistemonikos, and Google Scholar. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 60% (n=6) were systematic reviews, 20% were controlled trials, 10% were case studies, and 10% were descriptive studies. The studies showed 80% high-quality evidence, 10% moderate quality, and 10% low quality. Studies came from Spain (30%), the USA (10%), Paraguay (10%), the UK (10%), Turkey (10%), Japan (10%), Cuba (10%), and India (10%). Results: 90% (n=9/10) of the studies indicated that the nursing intervention with silver nitrate for treating umbilical granuloma in newborns was effective. Conclusion: 9 out of 10 studies demonstrate the effectiveness of nursing interventions using silver nitrate for treating umbilical granuloma in newborns.
