Effectiveness of light mesh compared to heavy mesh in reducing postoperative pain in patients with inguinal hernia

Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of light mesh compared to heavy mesh for reducing postoperative pain in patients with inguinal hernia. Material and Methods: The type of quantitative study, the design was a systematic review. The population consisted of 80 articles, 10 scientific articles were chosen as a sample, they had the following databases as instruments: Pub Med, Springer Link, Cochrane Bookstore. 100% qualitative (n= 10/10). According to the results obtained, according to the methodological design, 20% are systematic review and meta-analysis, 10% are systematic review, 30% are meta-analysis review and 40% experimental, according to the quality of the evidence according to the Grade se system. found high at 100% high and according to the strength of the recommendation 100% strong. They correspond to countries such as: United Kingdom 40%, China 30%, Europe 20% and Iran 10% respectively. Results: 60% (n = 6/10) agree with the effectiveness of light mesh compared to heavy mesh for reducing postoperative pain in patients with inguinal hernia. 40% of the articles (n = 4/10) disagree with the effectiveness of light mesh compared to heavy mesh for reducing postoperative pain in patients with inguinal hernia. Conclusion: it was concluded that 60% (n = 6/10) agree with the effectiveness of light mesh compared to heavy mesh for reducing postoperative pain in patients with inguinal hernia. 40% of the articles (n = 4/10) disagree about the effectiveness of light mesh compared to heavy mesh for reducing postoperative pain in patients with inguinal hernia.

Effectiveness of the Lichtenstein technique versus the Desarda technique in adult post-surgical patients with inguinal hernia.

Objective: Systematize the evidence on the efficacy of the Lichtenstein technique versus the Desarda technique in post-surgical adult patients. Materials and Methods: The design corresponds to a systematic review. A systematic search of 10 scientific articles was conducted in the following databases: PubMed, Wolters Kluwer, Springer Link. Results: According to the review of 100% of the studies analyzed, 50% (n=5/10) of the articles indicate that there is heterogeneity in both the Lichtenstein technique and the Desarda technique in post-surgical adult patients with inguinal hernia. 30% (n=3/10) disagree on the efficacy of the Lichtenstein technique versus the Desarda technique in post-surgical adult patients. 20% (n=2/10) highlight the efficacy of the Desarda technique versus the Lichtenstein technique in post-surgical adult patients. Conclusion: The studies analyzed indicate that there is heterogeneity in both the Lichtenstein and Desarda techniques, and a percentage disagree on the efficacy of the Lichtenstein technique versus the Desarda technique in post-surgical adult patients. Finally, a smaller percentage of studies indicate that the efficacy of the Desarda technique versus the Lichtenstein technique in post-surgical adult patients reduces complications in the inguinal hernia surgical procedure.

Efficacy of laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery versus conventional inguinal hernia in patients who have undergone this surgical intervention

Materials and Methods: In the final selection, 10 studies were chosen, the systematic review of the 10 scientific articles on the effectiveness of laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery versus conventional inguinal hernia in patients who have undergone this surgical intervention, were found in the following Lilacs, Scielo, Pubmed, Medline and Cochrane databases, all of them correspond to the type and design of studies Meta-analysis 01, Systematic Review and Meta-analysis 01, Systematic Review 07 and Randomized Clinical Trial 01. Results: The 10 articles systematically reviewed, 80% (n=08/10) of these, show the better effectiveness of laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery compared to conventional surgery, it has a better result and is a viable and safe strategy for the patient undergoing this surgical intervention, in addition to reducing the days of hospital stay. Conclusion: The evidence confirms that the best intervention for cases of inguinal hernia is laparoscopic surgery.

Efficacy of the use of self-adhesive mesh versus conventional mesh in the prevention of postoperative complications of inguinal hernioplasty in the general surgery service

Objectives: Determine the effectiveness of using self-adhesive mesh versus conventional mesh in post-inguinal hernioplasty patients. Methodology/Methods: Systematic reviews are the best effort to compile and synthesize scientific evidence on the topic, through a method that ensures that the biases and limitations that we have mentioned in 8 scientific articles published and indexed in the databases, which corresponds to articles published in Spanish. Results: In the final selection, 8 articles were chosen, we found that 20% (02) correspond to Chile, and 10% (1) in Mexico, Spain, Bolivia, Colombia, USA, Cuba respectively. Among the articles we have (6) experimental, quasi-experimental (1), cases and controls (1). Where the total of articles analyzed 60% affirm that the use of self-adhesive mesh compared to conventional mesh is long-term benefit in hernias inguinal. Conclusions: It was evident in the reviewed research that there is effectiveness of self-adhesive mesh and polypropylene mesh in preventing postoperative complications in inguinal hernia with supposed benefits in reducing surgical time and reducing postoperative pain without increasing the number of complications or recurrences.
