Ítem Acceso abierto (Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Fernández Correa, Madeleine Milagros; Dalby Morla, Maria Paola FelicitaThe objective of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of parental knowledge about oral hygiene and its relation to the oral hygiene of children aged 3 to 5 years at the IEP "Angelitos de Jesús", Lima - 2015. The study was descriptive, prospective, observational, and cross-sectional. The population consisted of 138 children and their respective parents. The IHOs (Simplified Oral Hygiene Index by Green and Vermillion) was used on the children, and a questionnaire consisting of 10 questions related to oral hygiene, previously validated by expert judgment, was used for parents. The results showed that the IHOs was 65.00% for 3-year-olds and 42.50% for 5-year-olds, considered as poor oral hygiene; while 75.00% of 4-year-olds had regular oral hygiene. The level of parental knowledge about oral hygiene, according to age, was poor in 50.00% of parents aged 31 years and older. Regarding gender, the male gender had a higher prevalence, with 66.67% of males showing poor knowledge. The study concluded that there is no relationship between the level of parental knowledge about oral hygiene and the oral hygiene level of children aged 3 to 5 years at IEP "Angelitos de Jesús", Lima - 2015.Ítem Acceso abierto (Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017) Canto Lara, Celina Sandra; Galvez Ramirez, Carlos MichellThe teaching of mechanical plaque control is of utmost importance, as its goal is to prevent periodontal diseases and create a positive attitude in the patient, inform, and motivate them. The objective of this observational, descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional, and relational-level research was to assess the effectiveness of the modified Bass and modified Stillman brushing techniques for bacterial plaque control in secondary school students. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 97 children aged 10 to 15 years. A plaque disclosure substance was used, and oral hygiene was evaluated using the O'Leary Index before and after the educational talks. The dental surfaces were then assessed, considering two groups: one for instruction in the modified Stillman brushing technique. It was concluded that before brushing, the group using the modified Bass technique had an average of 67.8%, while the Stillman group had 86.0%. After brushing, both techniques proved effective, with the modified Bass technique showing 22.8% improvement and the Stillman technique showing 24.6%.Ítem Acceso abierto Construction and validation of an instrument on oral hygiene measures and care in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic in Peru 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-10-23) Velasquez Quezada, Alexander Zocimo; Céspedes Porras, JacquelineObjective: The objective of this research was to establish the content validity of an instrument to assess the level of knowledge about oral hygiene measures and care in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru in 2021, among students of the Monseñor Fidel Olivas Escudero State School, secondary level, aged 12 to 17 years. Material and Methods: The study used a deductive approach, quantitative focus, and psychometric validation of a measurement instrument, with an observational design and longitudinal scope. The sample focused on 70 secondary students, both female and male, aged 12 to 17, who were administered a questionnaire virtually via a Google Forms survey. The instrument was validated through expert judgment before application, and after 20 days, the instrument was reapplied. Results: The instrument showed content validity with an approval category of 0.8-0.92 and construct validity with a bifactorial model. It also demonstrated internal consistency with strong reliability (Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.901 and 0.900 for the instruments "Oral Hygiene Measures" and "Oral Hygiene Care," respectively) and strong stability (intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.964, statistically significant with p = 0.000). Conclusion: The instrument has content validity, reliability, construct validity, and stability for assessing the level of knowledge about oral hygiene measures and care in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru in 2021.Publicación Acceso abierto Efecto de la estrategia de limpieza basada en la masticación de manzana en la cubierta lingual en adolescentes de la I.E. Estos resultados indicaron la eficacia, al encontrar diferencia significativa entre promedios del primer grupo, según los valores de las pruebas de hipótesis con asistencia de la prueba t de Student y nivel de significancia 0.05.Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge and practices about oral hygiene in mothers of children from 6 to 9 years of age of the I.E San Martin of the district of Chorrillos, Lima 2021.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-04-25) Carranza Torres, Hillary Pamela; Céspedes Porras, JacquelineObjective: To determine the level of knowledge and practice regarding oral hygiene in mothers of children aged 6 to 9 years from the San Martín School in the district of Chorrillos - Lima, 2021.
