The present secondary research titled Critical Review: nutritional intervention in the prevention of hyperkalemia in patients with CKD, aimed to determine whether the implementation of an educational program would help prevent hyperkalemia. The clinical question was: Would nutritional intervention help in the prevention of hyperkalemia in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease? The evidence-based nutrition (NuBE) methodology. The search for articles was carried out in the following databases: PubMed, Science Direct, Scielo and Redalyc; 188 articles were found, of which 10 were selected and were evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, the final selection was a randomized clinical trial study titled: “Evaluation of a nutritional intervention program in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease” , which presents level of AI evidence and degree of strong recommendation, in relation to the researcher's analysis. The critical commentary concludes that nutritional intervention helps prevent hyperkalemia in patients with CKD.
