Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of oral dextrose gel for the prevention of hypoglycemia in at-risk neonates(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-07-08) Torres Peralta, Noelia Isabel; Cajacuri Gonzales, Rocio Pilar; Pérez Siguas, Rosa EvaObjective: To analyze available evidence from studies on the effectiveness of oral dextrose gel for the prevention of hypoglycemia in at-risk neonates. Materials and Methods: The systematic review on the use of oral dextrose gel in the 10 scientific articles reviewed and found on the topic was sourced from the following databases: PubMed, Cochrane, Scielo, PLoS Medicine, The Lancet, Journal, Biomedicine. The articles include 2/10 from New Zealand, 2/10 from Australia, 5/10 from the United States, and 1/10 from England. The research design was mostly systematic reviews and experimental in nature. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 9/10 indicate that the use of oral dextrose gel is effective in preventing hypoglycemia in at-risk neonates, preventing mother-infant separation, and supporting the continuation of breastfeeding. Only 1/10 indicates that the use of dextrose gel for hypoglycemia is still unclear. Conclusions: The evidence shows that the use of oral dextrose is effective in preventing hypoglycemia in at-risk neonates. The use of oral dextrose gel is a perfect example of successful population-based management and should be used as a first-line treatment for neonates with hypoglycemia, thus preventing admission to neonatal intensive care, supporting family bonding, and contributing to successful breastfeeding.Ítem Acceso abierto Factors associated with neonatal hypoglycemia in a hospital in Lima, first quarter year 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-12-27) Paucarmayta Martínez, Patricia Isabel; Uturunco Vera, Milagros LizbethThe objective of this study is: To determine those factors that are associated with neonatal hypoglycemia in a Hospital in Lima in the first quarter of 2019. Material and Method: The study has a quantitative, case-control, analytical, and retrospective approach. The measurement of the variables is cross-sectional, type of observational intervention, cohort design. The population will consist of all the medical records (HCL) of full-term neonates who were treated in the Neonatology service of a Hospital in Lima in the study period, first quarter of 2019. The sample will be made up of 140 neonates treated in the Neonatology service of a Hospital in Lima, first quarter of 2019. There will be a collection of HCL from RN, all term neonates will be considered with a diagnosis of hypoglycemia (less than and equal to 45 mg/dl), who will be chosen taking into account the inclusion and exclusion criteria that were raised in the present study. A review of the R.N.'s medical history and the mother's medical history will be used. A collection sheet will be handled, obtained thanks to the author Renson Huamani.Ítem Acceso abierto Risk factors for hypoglycemia in neonates hospitalized in the neonatology department of the María Auxiliadora Hospital - Lima 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-10-03) Clavijo Moreno, Gretel Karolina; Mori Castro, Jaime AlbertoObjective: Determine the risk factors for hypoglycemia in neonates hospitalized in the Neonatology Service of the María Auxiliadora Hospital – Lima 2021. Material and method: Quantitative approach, design: non-experimental, research level: relational. section: transverse. It is made up of 170 preterm and full-term newborns hospitalized in 2021. The sample size will be 118 preterm newborns hospitalized, a sample achieved with a 5% margin of error and a 95% confidence level; chosen by probabilistic, simple random sampling. Results: This research study aims to provide better strategies regarding hospitalized neonates with a diagnosis of hypoglycemia, which will allow us to provide better chances of survival to our patients, in addition to reducing neonatal morbidity and mortality, and acting immediately to prevent complications and damage. Conclusions: The results that will be obtained will allow new strategies to be established, and therefore the results will serve as a tool for better management of health services.
