Antipyretic efficacy of combined versus individual use of acetaminophen and ibuprofen in febrile pediatric patients.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-03-25) Carlos Musayon, Jessica Viviana; Casanova Taya, Betty; Matta Solis, Hernan Hugo
Objective: To systematically analyze the evidence of the combined use of paracetamol and ibuprofen versus their individual use. Material and Method: The systematic review of 10 articles on the antipyretic efficacy of the combined use versus individual use of paracetamol and ibuprofen in febrile pediatric patients in the emergency department was found in the following databases: Cochrane, SciELO, Medline, PubMed, and Elsevier. Of the 10 articles reviewed, 60% (6/10) correspond to the methodological design of randomized clinical trials, 30% (3/10) are systematic reviews, and 10% (1/10) is a simple review. All of them were analyzed according to the GRADE scale to determine their strength and quality of evidence. Results: 80% of the reviewed articles are conclusive, supported by 1 systematic review and 1 simple review, suggesting that combined therapy is better than monotherapy, and 6 randomized clinical trials showing that the combined use of paracetamol and ibuprofen works more effectively and even faster than paracetamol or ibuprofen alone. However, the other 20% recommend that further studies in larger populations are necessary to confirm its efficacy. Conclusions: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 80% (8/10) demonstrate the efficacy of the combined use of paracetamol and ibuprofen in febrile pediatric patients.

Effectiveness of ibuprofen combined with acetaminophen for controlling fever in children under 5 years old
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-07-22) Córdova García, Katerine Milagros; Linares Vásquez, Rosalyn; Gómez Gonzales, Walter Edgar
Objective: To determine the effectiveness of Ibuprofen combined with paracetamol for controlling fever in children under 5 years old. Materials and Methods: This is a systematic review that included 7 articles, no older than 10 years, with full-text publications in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, from the databases: PubMed, Scielo, Journal Medical, Cochrane Plus, and BVS. These articles focused on the effectiveness of Ibuprofen combined with paracetamol for fever control in children under 5 years old. 42.8% (3) of the articles are from South American countries, including Peru, while 14.2% (1) each are from Spain, Canada, Mexico, and Nigeria. Results: Of the total articles analyzed, 71.4% recommend Ibuprofen as the treatment of choice for significantly reducing fever. Additionally, when used in combination with Paracetamol or Acetaminophen, it not only increases effectiveness in lowering the temperature but also extends the duration the child remains afebrile. Conclusions: The evidence shows that the combined therapy of Ibuprofen and Paracetamol is more effective for treating fever in children than monotherapy. However, it is important to note that the use of Ibuprofen should be limited to the initial treatment due to its adverse effects. Furthermore, it is evident that Paracetamol, when combined with physical methods, significantly reduces body temperature within the first hour, more effectively than physical methods alone.

Effectiveness of ibuprofen in achieving successful pharmacological closure of the patent ductus arteriosus in premature newborns
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-01-06) Rojas Delgado, Jeniffer Liseth; Melgarejo Aguirre, Lizet Crístina; Bonilla Asalde, César Antonio
The total number of articles analyzed affirms the effectiveness of ibuprofen in achieving closure of patent ductus arteriosus in premature newborns. Which concludes that 90% of the studies show that Ibuprofen was effective in achieving successful pharmacological closure of the patent ductus arteriosus in premature newborns, presenting fewer side effects, and 10% show that Ibuprofen is not effective in achieving successful pharmacological closure of patent ductus arteriosus in premature newborns treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

In vitro effect of generic paracetamol and ibuprofen in syrups marketed in Peru, on salival ph. Lima 2023
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-06) Chihua Enciso, Deysi Magdalena; Salcedo Rioja, Mercedes Rita
The objective of this study was to compare the in vitro effect of generic paracetamol and ibuprofen on salivary pH. The research used a hypothetical deductive method with a quantitative approach, applied type, and a completely randomized experimental design with one factor (type of solution). The number of replicates for each solution was determined with a 95% confidence level and 90% power. Thirty saliva samples were collected for each solution, with samples randomly assigned to each solution. Each sample contained 1.1 ml of saliva, with 30 samples assigned randomly to a 120mg/5ml paracetamol solution and 30 to a 100mg/5ml ibuprofen solution. 1.1 ml of each solution was added to each sample, and pH was recorded at 0, 15, and 30 minutes. Statistical analysis was performed using summary indicators of position and dispersion, and after applying normality tests to the variables, inferences were made using Student’s t-tests for comparing the means of two independent samples. The average salivary pH was 7.58, the paracetamol solution had a pH of 4.97, and ibuprofen had a pH of 4.05. The average pH recorded at time zero, when each solution was added to the samples, was 5.76 for paracetamol and 4.39 for ibuprofen. After 15 minutes, the average pH for paracetamol was 5.91 and for ibuprofen, it was 4.45. After 30 minutes, the average pH of the samples containing paracetamol was 5.93, and for those containing ibuprofen, it was 4.50. Conclusions: A critical pH level was achieved at all three time points with ibuprofen, affecting the saliva's ability to neutralize acids
