Ítem Acceso abierto Evaluation of the photography of smiling profile in the orthodontic photography protocol(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-13) Zavalaga Gutierrez, Agatha Betzabeth; Nieto Perea, PatriciaIn orthodontics, photographs play a very important role as they aid in diagnosis. The standard photographic protocol typically includes intraoral and extraoral photographs; however, the profile smile photograph is often overlooked. Only a few prescriptions, such as that of Dr. ANDREWS, rely on the profile smile photograph to evaluate the position of the central incisor and obtain a better perspective of the clinical case. The objective of this study was to evaluate a clinical case using both a smile profile photograph and one without a smile. Four profile photographs without a smile were shown to experienced orthodontists, who provided their perspective on the case. After fifteen days, the same four photographs of the patients, but with a smile, were shown for comparison. The results indicated that using the profile smile photograph revealed more findings and details in the perception of the clinical case. It allowed for better analysis of the position of the upper central incisor, the relationship of the lips, and the harmony of the maxillae. Therefore, it is suggested to incorporate the profile smile photograph into the conventional orthodontic photographic protocol.Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between nutritional status and dental eruption of the upper central incisor in schoolchildren of an educational institution, Huancayo 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-08-13) Gilvonio Llashag, Allison Vanessa; Hidalgo Constantino, JudithThe purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nutritional status and the eruption of the upper central incisor in schoolchildren from an educational institution, Huancayo 2023. The study included 100 schoolchildren from the "María Auxiliadora" Educational Institution 30179. The study design was non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional. The variables of nutritional status and eruption of the incisor were analyzed using BMI and Sato's classification, respectively. The observation technique was used, and a data collection form was the instrument. Most of the students (57%) were classified as having normal weight, followed by those at risk of malnutrition. Similarly, both sexes had normal nutritional status. The majority in each age group were classified as normal weight, especially prominent in 7-year-old children (30%). On the other hand, for both upper central incisors (right and left), the majority of cases were classified as Code VI (54%), in contrast to the lower central incisors (right and left), which were mostly classified as Code VI (88%). For both sexes, the most common category was Code VI, indicating complete eruption. In older ages, more advanced eruption levels (Code VI) were more prevalent, indicating complete eruption. It is concluded that there is a significant positive correlation between nutritional status and the eruption of the upper and lower left central incisors in schoolchildren from an educational institution, Huancayo 2023.
