Ítem Acceso abierto Level of knowledge and biosafety practices in nursing graduates of the emergency service(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-03-13) Ayala Chacchi, Yessica Belly; Palomino Taquire, RewardsNursing graduates have adequate knowledge of biosafety measures, not only because they have graduated from national and private universities, but also because 90% of them continually undergo training, with 60% specializing and 30% pursuing postgraduate studies (12). Healthcare professionals become vulnerable when they lack the necessary protective measures, fail to use biosafety protocols, and increase the risk of infections from pathogens that could lead to infectious diseases due to not using personal protective equipment. This is because, despite being a referral hospital, the healthcare center does not have the appropriate budget allocated for the acquisition of these life-saving protective equipment for healthcare professionals (13). This motivated the completion of this research, raising concerns about the health status of licensed nursing professionals. Despite the high level of knowledge the healthcare professional demonstrates regarding the definition and theory of biosafety, the issue is the failure to comply with the biosafety protocols established by the healthcare center, especially in the emergency department of the hospital in Ate.
