The objective of this work was to: Determine the relationship between theoretical and practical knowledge about the care of the Peripheral Insertion central catheter, on the dimensions of insertion, healing, and removal of the PICC. This is a study that used 30 nurses from a private clinic in Lima 2021 as a population, whose results showed that they know the procedure but it is necessary that these concepts regarding the skills and abilities of nursing professionals in the care of the PICC. It is relevant to the care they provide and it is necessary to establish an updated and standardized protocol and guide to improve safe, effective and timely care. In this way, the long-term quality of life of the newborn will be favored in addition to the reduction in economic expenditure added to the risk due to infection rates, so the care provided by the nursing professional in the critical newborn unit will be of quality. The type of research is non-experimental because they will be studied in a single study sample without making any manipulation of the study variables. The research method is deductive because it goes from the general to the particular in terms of the characteristics and behaviors of the variables of this study. The research approach is quantitative because they will be measurable in statistical frequencies and percentages based on the application of two given instruments.
