Effectiveness of a nursing educational intervention for controlling glycosylated hemoglobin in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-11-12) Matos Arrieta, Janett Alicia; Pajares Del Aguila, Lizbeth Aurora; Bonilla Asalde, César Antonio
Objective: To analyze the evidence regarding the effectiveness of a nursing educational intervention for the control of glycosylated hemoglobin in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Materials and Methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review. The search was limited to full-text articles, and the final selection included 10 articles. Two articles were from Brazil, China, and Spain, respectively, while one article was from Japan, Thailand, Mexico, and the United States. The majority of the studies (70%) were randomized controlled trials and originated from China, Spain, Japan, Thailand, the United States, and Brazil, with the first five contributing one article each and Brazil contributing two. Additionally, one quasi-experimental study from Mexico, one cohort study from Spain, and one case-control study from China were included. Results: 90% of the analyzed articles state that educational interventions are effective in controlling glycosylated hemoglobin in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: A nursing educational intervention for self-care is effective in controlling glycosylated hemoglobin in patients with type II diabetes mellitus.

Effectiveness of a nursing educational intervention in prenatal and postnatal care for the continuation of exclusive breastfeeding
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-08-05) De La “O” Huarocc, Erika Milagros; Bonilla Asalde, César Antonio
Objective: To evaluate the evidence on the effectiveness of a nursing educational intervention during the pre and postnatal periods on exclusive breastfeeding in children up to 6 months of age. Methodology: This is a systematic review, with the search restricted to full-text articles, and the selected articles underwent critical reading. A total of 10 articles were selected, with 30% (3) corresponding to Spain, 30% (3) from Colombia, and 40% (4) from Cuba. The studies included one clinical trial (1), one systematic review (5), a correlational description (1), case-control studies (2), and one cohort study (1). Results: Maternal education during the prenatal stage, with greater emphasis on the postnatal stage, is effective in increasing the duration and exclusivity of breastfeeding during the 6 months following birth. In Gorrita’s study, educational interventions were effective, leading to better exclusive breastfeeding durations, lower morbidity, and higher weight and height percentiles for age in the intervention group. Conclusions: From the total number of articles analyzed, it is concluded that maternal education is effective in ensuring the continuation of exclusive breastfeeding.

Effectiveness of an educational intervention for promoting healthy eating in school-aged children
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-07-08) García Pinedo, Katherine; Mejía Rivero, Blanca Natalia; Rivera Lozada de Bonilla, Oriana
Objective: To systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of educational interventions for promoting healthy eating in school-age children. Methodology: A systematic, retrospective review synthesizing research relevant to nursing, based on evidence that addresses our research question. The GRADE system was used to assign the strength of recommendations. Results: Ten scientific articles were selected, with 30% from Peru, another 30% from Mexico, 20% from Spain, and 10% from Colombia and Chile. The selected articles were mostly quasi-experimental, with 40% from Mexico, Colombia, and Peru; pre-experimental studies (20%) from Spain and Peru; systematic reviews (10%) from Spain; controlled trials (10%) from Mexico; experimental studies (10%) from Mexico; and quasi-experimental studies (10%) from Chile. These studies indicate that educational interventions are highly effective for school-age children, enhancing their knowledge of healthy eating. Conclusions: The research demonstrated that educational interventions are 100% effective in promoting healthy eating among school-age children, improving their dietary habits and strengthening their physical activity.

Effectiveness of an educational intervention on healthy lunchbox knowledge and content for preschoolers' mothers
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Quilca Calatayud, Gissella Mercedes; Ramírez Aliaga, Roxana; Cruz Pardo, Luz María
General Objective: To determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention on knowledge of healthy lunchboxes and their contents among mothers of preschool children at the Patricia Teresa Rodríguez 3019 Educational Institution in Rímac, 2015. Materials and Methods: This study adopted a quantitative approach, with a pre-experimental and longitudinal design. The sample consisted of 25 mothers from the Patricia Teresa Rodríguez 3019 School – UGEL 02 Rímac. The instrument used was a questionnaire, and the data were processed using the Excel program, with descriptive statistics applied. Results: Before the educational intervention (EI), 52% (13) of the mothers had a low level of knowledge about healthy lunchboxes; after the EI, 100% (25) reached a high level. Before the EI, 68% (17) had a low level of knowledge about types of foods; after the EI, 96% (24) reached a high level. Before the EI, 56% (14) had a low level of knowledge about healthy lunchbox preparation methods, and 44% (11) had a medium level; after the EI, 100% (25) reached a high level. Before the EI, 64% (16) had a low level of knowledge about the contents of healthy lunchboxes; after the educational intervention, 100% (25) of the mothers achieved a high level. Conclusion: The educational intervention was effective in enhancing the mothers' knowledge about healthy lunchboxes, as improvements were observed in their understanding after participating, with all mothers achieving a high level of knowledge.
