Assessing hydration status in hemodialysis patients is an important parameter that should be measured objectively to define the prognosis of hemodialysis therapy. This critical review: Overhydration Measured by Bioimpedance as an Indicator of Mortality Risk in Adult Hemodialysis Patients, aimed to identify whether overhydration measured by bioimpedance predicts mortality in adult hemodialysis patients. The clinical question was: Can overhydration measured by bioimpedance predict the risk of mortality in adult hemodialysis patients? The methodology used was Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE). Information collection was conducted on Scopus, Science Direct, PubMed, Scielo, Dialnet, and Redalyc, finding 30 articles, of which 9 were selected and critically evaluated using the CASPE tool. The cohort article titled 'Extracellular Fluid/Intracellular Fluid Ratio as a New Indicator of Mortality Risk for All Causes and Cardiovascular Diseases in Hemodialysis Patients' was selected. It was concluded that overhydration measured by bioimpedance is a good predictor of mortality in adult hemodialysis patients.
