This study aims to determine the level of knowledge about oral hygiene measures through a test/questionnaire administered to primigravida or multigravida mothers attending obstetric consultations at the El Progreso Health Center in 2017. Methodology: This was an observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive study. The questionnaire consisted of structured questions (dichotomous and multiple-choice) about knowledge of oral hygiene elements, their functions, oral pathologies related to hygiene, and oral hygiene techniques. Each correct answer was awarded one point. The regular level of knowledge was the most frequent (66.2%). Pregnant women in their third trimester showed a higher level of knowledge (29.3%). Participants with secondary education had the highest level of knowledge (46.8%). Those with up to three prenatal visits demonstrated a higher level of knowledge (36%). Conclusion: Most pregnant women exhibited a regular level of knowledge about oral hygiene.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Crivillero Jurado, Luz Angelica; Galvez Ramirez, Carlos Michell
Objective: The purpose of this study was to establish whether there is a relationship between the prevalence of Early Childhood Caries (ECC) in children aged 3, 4, and 5 years and the level of knowledge about oral health prevention in parents at the Initial Educational Institution N° 516, Villa María del Triunfo District, Lima-Peru, 2015. Materials and Methods: A sample of 190 parents from the Initial Educational Institution N° 516, Villa María del Triunfo, was evaluated. Parents were given a validated survey assessing their knowledge about oral health prevention, and a work sheet for children aged 3, 4, and 5 was used to relate the prevalence of Early Childhood Caries. Results: The level of knowledge about oral health prevention among parents was found to be "regular" at 52.6%. Regarding the prevalence of Early Childhood Caries, the majority presented a "moderate" level at 40.0%. No relationship was observed between oral health knowledge and the age or gender of the parents. It was noted that in all three child age groups, the sample did not show a normal distribution in the level of caries and the educational level of the respondent. A relationship was observed between these variables, as children of parents with "good" oral health knowledge had a lower caries level. Finally, no relationship was found between the child’s caries level and the age of the respondent. Conclusions: The overall level of knowledge about oral health prevention was found to be regular; however, the prevalence of Early Childhood Caries was moderate in children aged 3, 4, and 5 years.

Creation and validation of an instrument to measure the level of knowledge on oral health in children aged five and six years at the 5083 Educational Institution, San Martín de Porres, Callao 2019
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-10-25) Westreicher Criales, Ana Judith; León Untiveros, Gina Fiorella
Objective: To validate an instrument for measuring the level of knowledge about oral health in children aged five and six years at I.E. 5083 San Martin de Porres-Callao in 2019. Materials and Methods: This was an observational, prospective, descriptive, and cross-sectional study. Data collection was conducted through a survey using a valid and reliable instrument. Results: Content validity was achieved through a literature review, resulting in an 11-item instrument. These items were evaluated using Aiken's V, scoring 0.9 in expert judgment, which led to the removal of one question. The instrument underwent an initial reliability test with 10 questions, yielding a result of "<0.60," prompting the removal of question 8. A second pilot test was conducted, achieving a reliability score of "0.74," demonstrating the instrument’s reliability. The validated instrument was then applied to a sample of 184 children aged 5 and 6 years at I.E. 5083 San Martin de Porres in Lima-Callao, revealing a medium level of knowledge among the students. Conclusion: The instrument for measuring the level of knowledge about oral health in children aged 5 and 6 years is valid and reliable.
