From Canevaro. Materials and Methods: It was a quantitative, quasi-experimental study design with 2 groups. The population consisted of 71 older adults with a sample of 38, to whom the Yesavage Geriatric Depression Scale test was applied to measure depression. It was divided into 2 groups: group with intervention (50%) and group without intervention (50%) Results: In the pre-test it was found that in the group without intervention, 78.9% had moderate depression and 21.1% had severe depression, the group with intervention presented 10.5% mild depression, 57.9% moderate and 31.6% severe; In the post-test, it was found that in the group with intervention, 94.7% had mild depression, 5.3% had severe depression, while in the group without intervention, 73.7% had moderate depression and 26.3% had severe depression. In the group with intervention in the behavioral dimension they presented changes of 95%, thus being highly significant. The Wilcoxon Z statistical test was used, finding statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-intervention measurement for the control of depression in older adults, finding a highly significant p= 0.001. Conclusions: The laughter therapy workshop “Magic in Action Margrey” was effective in controlling depression, obtaining greater changes in the behavioral dimension in older adults at the Ignacia Rodulfo Vda Geronto Geriatric Center.
