Effectiveness of lidocaine in reducing pain during nasogastric tube insertion
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-02) Alarcon Falero, Nestor Miguel; Malca Ramírez, Robinson; Avila Vargas Machuca, Jeannette Giselle
The systematic reviews of the 10 scientific articles on the effectiveness of lidocaine to reduce the pain in the insertion of the nasogastric tube, 90% refer that lidocaine is effective in reducing the pain in the insertion of the nasogastric tube, only 10% report that it does not reduce the pain, concluding the administration of lidocaine, either in its different presentations as a gel, atomized or nebulized, reduces the pain always and when it is administered 5 minutes before each nasogastric tube insertion, being the most nebulized is effective as it reduces pain by up to 57.7%.

Latency time with lidocaine 2% and mepivacaine 2% using the direct truncation technique in patients seen at the dental clinic of the Norbert Wiener University, 2018
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-02-22) Ugarte Benites, Judith Lupe; Ascanoa Olazo, Jimmy Antonio
The objective of this study was to determine the latency time of 2% lidocaine and 2% mepivacaine using the direct trunk technique in patients treated at the Norbert Wiener University Dental Clinic in 2018. This research was descriptive, observational, non-experimental, prospective, cross-sectional, and comparative. The non-probabilistic sample consisted of 13 patients for each group, lidocaine 2% and mepivacaine 2%, using the direct trunk technique according to Lorenz Arranz, applying an anesthesia cartridge with a long needle (27G), reaching 20-25mm in 15 seconds, applied by a dentist. The time control was performed with a stopwatch, waiting for the tingling or numbness of the lip, tongue, and tooth, according to the administered sector. The data collection instrument was validated by expert judgment. The data were processed using SPSS version 23, applying the Student's t-test. For comparing categorical variables, independent two-sample tests were used, working at a 5% significance level (α = 0.05). The results showed that 2% lidocaine had an average latency time of 3.36 minutes, while 2% mepivacaine had an average latency time of 3.63 minutes. This study concluded that there is no significant difference between the latency time of 2% lidocaine and 2% mepivacaine.

Variation in blood pressure associated with the administration of local anesthetic in oral surgery in patients who attended the dental clinic of the Norbert Wiener Private University.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-10-05) Vega Quispe, Haydee Rosario; Ascanoa Olazo, Jimmy Antonio
The objective of the study was to determine the "Variation in blood pressure after the administration of local anesthetic in oral surgery in patients who attended the dental clinic of the private Norbert Wiener University in 2019." The study design was observational, descriptive, and prospective. The population consisted of patients who required dental treatment (extraction), and the sample included 76 patients classified as ASA I, aged 18 to 60 years, including both males and females, who required dental treatment and received 2% lidocaine with epinephrine 1:100,000. Blood pressure was measured before and after the administration of local anesthesia. The results showed that the application of 2% lidocaine with vasoconstrictor 1:100,000 did not affect blood pressure values. It was demonstrated that there were no variations in blood pressure. Conclusion: The administration of local anesthetic does not influence the "variation in blood pressure in patients who attended the dental clinic of the private Norbert Wiener University in 2019," and no statistically significant differences were observed.
