Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of the cleaning process in optimizing the reprocessing of medical equipment.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-25) Mogrovejo Flores, Migdalia del Carmen; Matta Solis, Hernan HugoObjective: To systematically analyze evidence on the efficacy of the cleaning process in optimizing the reprocessing of medical-use materials.Materials and Methods: Systematic review design with a sample of 5 scientific articles selected from PubMed and Scielo databases. Articles originated from Mexico (20%), the United Kingdom (20%), Japan (20%), and China (20%). Results: - 100% of the studies (n=5/5) demonstrate the efficacy of the cleaning process in optimector washers, while 20% used ultrasonicizing the reprocessing of medical-use materials. - 80% of the studies employed manual cleaning and thermo-disinf washers. - Manual and ultrasonic cleaning were less effective (60%), whereas cleaning with thermo-disinfector washers was 100% effective. Conclusions: - Studies highlight the effectiveness of the cleaning process in optimizing the reprocessing of medical-use materials. - Key determinants for success include the biological load of the material and the surface area exposed during cleaning. - This review serves as a scientific tool for enhancing the reprocessing protocols for medical-use materials, supporting evidence-based improvements in healthcare practices.
