    Correlation between nasolabial angle, smile type and lip position in dentistry students at Norbert Wiener University, Lima – 2023

    The objective of the research was to determine whether there is a relationship between the nasolabial angle, lip position, and smile type in dental students at Universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima – 2023. A hypothetical-deductive method with a quantitative approach, basic type, and descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional design was employed. The sample included 150 students. Data collection was conducted using the observation technique, with a data collection sheet as the instrument. The results revealed that the nasolabial angle showed a perfect correlation with itself. Regarding the relationship between the nasolabial angle and smile type, a weak correlation of 0.183 was observed, while between smile type and lip position, the correlation was moderate, with a value of 0.317. Lip position did not show a direct correlation with the other variables. The Chi-Square statistical test emphasized the interdependence between these variables, showing various degrees of correlation, ranging from weak to moderate. In conclusion, it is established that there is a correlation between the nasolabial angle, smile type, and lip position in dental students at Universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima – 2023.
