Webb & Berthel (malva) en ratones(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-06-02) Guz, Pawel; Lavanto Chiara, María del Pilar; Chávez Flores, Juana ElviraThe objective of this preclinical study was to determine the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of the hydroalcoholic extract of the leaves of Malva arborea L. Webb & Berthel (mallow) in mice. Methodology: To test the anti-inflammatory effect, the model of auricular edema inhibition induced with 0.6% xylene topically applied to the auricle in mice was used. Thirty-six mice were divided into 6 groups: Negative control, 1% diclofenac and hydrocortisone creams, and creams based on the hydroalcoholic extract (0.5, 1 and 2%). To test the analgesic effect, the model of abdominal contortions induced with 0.8% acetic acid in mice was used. The 6 groups of 6 mice were: Negative control, paracetamol 300 mg/kg, tramadol 50 mg/kg, and hydroalcoholic extract (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg). Finally, the percentage of atrial edema inhibition and the percentage of abdominal writhing inhibition were calculated. Results: The percentage of atrial edema inhibition was 57.6% in the 2% hydroalcoholic cream extract group, compared to the 1% diclofenac group (51.2%). The percentage of abdominal writhing inhibition was 85.8% in the 400 mg/kg hydroalcoholic extract group, compared to the 50 mg/kg tramadol group (85.6%), both administered orally. Conclusion: The hydroalcoholic extract of the leaves of Malva arborea L. Webb & Berthel has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.
