Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the Susan Givens Bell scale to measure reliability, speed, and intensity of pain in hospitalized neonates(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-02-17) Pozo Huanca, Aurelia; Vera Faustino, Gina Evelyn; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioObjective: The purpose of the study is to analyze and evaluate scientific evidence on the improvement of the Susan Givens Bell scale to measure the reliability, speed and level of pain intensity in hospitalized neonates. Materials and Methods: The observational and retrospective systematic review, the search has been restricted to systematic reviews with the full text, in which a critical reading has been used, using the GRADO evaluation to identify its level of evidence. Within the 10 pieces of evidence, 100% (n = 10/10) the type of research was quantitative (16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25) of which 40% (n = 4/10) was a correlational study (18,20,22,23) 20% (n = 2/10) randomized controlled clinical trial (21,24) 20% (n = 2/10) Prospective observational (16,25) 10% (n = 1/10) cohort (19) and 10% (n = 1/10) longitudinal descriptive (17). Results: According to the data from the systematic review, 50% (5) are only reliable, 20% (2) measure only pain intensity, 10% (1) measure both reliability and pain intensity, 20 % (2) measures the three indicators: reliability, speed and intensity of pain to evaluate each of the procedures that occur in the newborn. Conclusion: it is concluded that 20% of the systematic reviews indicate that the Susan Givens Bell scale evaluates the three indicators: reliability, speed and measures the level of pain intensity. What is needed are more studies that show that the Susan Givens Bell scale is effective to be applied in various hospitals.
