    Calidad de vida de los pacientes con diagnóstico de melasma atendidos en una oficina farmacéutica especializada en el distrito de Jesús María periodo agosto–setiembre 2018

    Melasma is a chronic skin condition that affects the facial area of patients and often impacts their quality of life. Therefore, the objective of this research was to evaluate the quality of life of patients diagnosed with melasma who were seen at a specialized pharmaceutical office in the district of Jesús María during August and September 2018. Method: This was a cross-sectional observational study conducted over a two-month period. A total of 148 patients were surveyed using the MelasQoL questionnaire, which consists of 10 questions and was validated in Colombia for patients with melasma. Results: The average age of the patients was 38.74 years (SD +/-10.032). Of the total, 83.8% (n=124) were female and 16.2% (n=24) were male. The age range of 31–40 years included the largest number of patients (n=62, 41.9%). The study found that 39.20% (n=58) of patients reported a severe impact on their quality of life, while 15.5% (n=23) reported a very severe impact. Additionally, more than 50% of the patients reported discomfort with their skin's appearance and feelings of frustration.

    Eficacia y tolerancia cutánea a despigmentantes en pacientes con melasma de la clínica Uniderma. Lima. 2024

    Hyperpigmentation is a common condition that affects patients' aesthetics and self-esteem. This study evaluated the efficacy and skin tolerance of depigmenting agents in patients with melasma at the Uniderma clinic. The objective was to determine the relationship between efficacy and skin tolerance of depigmenting agents in patients with melasma. A hypothetical-deductive with a quantitative approach study was conducted in a sample of 120 patients diagnosed with melasma. The sample population had to meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Surveys were used as the data collection instrument. The results indicated that the population with melasma was predominantly 40 years of age and older, during the months of July to September. Furthermore, 92% of the population reported observing improvements in their skin and rapid results. The vast majority also reported not experiencing any level of inflammation, irritation, scaling, hyperpigmentation, or allergic reaction to the application of the depigmenting agent, and only a minority indicated the opposite. Finally, the majority agreed with skin adaptation over several weeks of use and strongly disagreed with any alteration in skin hydration levels. It is concluded that there is a relationship between the efficacy and skin tolerance of depigmenting agents in patients with melasma at the Uniderma clinic in Lima, 2024.

    Relación entre la melanosis gingival y el tabaquismo pasivo en pacientes del centro odontológico Smiles by Designer, Lima 2025

    El objetivo general del presente estudio fue determinar la relación entre la melanosis gingival y la exposición al tabaquismo pasivo en pacientes atendidos en el Centro Odontológico Smiles by Designer, Lima 2025. La investigación se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, con un diseño no experimental, transversal y de tipo correlacional. La población estuvo conformada por 120 pacientes, a quienes se les evaluó mediante observación clínica y aplicación de un cuestionario estructurado, donde para la medición de la melanosis gingival se utilizó el índice DOPI (Dummett Oral Pigmentation Index), mientras que la exposición al tabaquismo pasivo fue evaluada a través de un cuestionario que permitió clasificar los niveles de exposición. Los resultados mostraron que el 31,7 % de los pacientes presentó melanosis gingival, predominando las intensidades leve y moderada, también el 52,5 % de los participantes evidenció algún nivel de exposición al tabaquismo pasivo. En el análisis inferencial se encontró una relación estadísticamente significativa entre la melanosis gingival y la exposición al tabaquismo pasivo (p < 0,05), según el sexo, dicha relación fue significativa únicamente en el sexo femenino, mientras que, por grupo etario, se evidenció significancia en los grupos de 35 a 54 años y de 55 a 65 años. Se concluyó que existe una relación estadísticamente significativa entre la melanosis gingival y la exposición al tabaquismo pasivo, observándose variaciones según el sexo y el grupo etario de los pacientes evaluados.
