Ítem Acceso abierto Risk of neurological alterations due to chronic mercury poisoning in mining workers.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-02-22) Medina Sanchez, Lady; Rivera Lozada de Bonilla, OrianaObjective: To analyze and systematize the evidence on the risk of neurological disorders due to chronic mercury poisoning in miners. Materials and methods: The systematic review of the 10 scientific articles was found in the following databases: Epystemonikos, Pubmed, Medline, EBSCO. They allowed us to find 10 scientific evidences. The selected articles were subjected to a critical reading. The quality of the evidence and strength of the recommendations were evaluated with the GRADE System to identify the degree of evidence. Results: Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 40% (n=4/10) are systematic reviews, 50% (n=5/10) are analytical cross-sectional studies and 10% (n=1/10) is a descriptive cross-sectional study. According to the results obtained from the systematic review carried out in the present study, they come from the countries of the United States (40%), followed by Sweden (10%), Brazil (10%), Indonesia (10%), Ghana (10%), Chile (10%) and Japan (10%). Considering the research designs, systematic reviews, cross-sectional studies were included, considering that 100% (n = 10/10) chronic mercury poisoning causes the risk of neurological disorders in miners. Conclusions: In 100% of the reviewed articles it was shown that chronic mercury poisoning causes the risk of neurological disorders in miners.
