    Desarrollo y evaluación organoléptica, fisicoquímica y microbiológica de una crema dérmica que utiliza aceite esencial de Ricinus communis L. en Lima – 2024

    The use of natural products in cosmetics has sparked growing interest due to their skin benefits and reduced environmental impact. Ricinus communis L., known as castor oil, is a plant whose seeds contain an essential oil with emollient, antimicrobial, and anti inflammatory properties. This study aimed to develop and conduct the organoleptic, physicochemical, and microbiological evaluation of a skin cream using Ricinus communis L. essential oil in Lima. Methodology: A hypothetical-deductive method was used, along with a mixed approach, a basic, experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive approach. Creams were developed with a 2% concentration of Ricinus communis L. essential oil. The evaluation included organoleptic, physicochemical, and microbiological tests in a pilot study of five 20 g bottles. Results: The cream has a homogeneous, creamy appearance, a whitish color, a semisolid texture with good structural stability, and acceptable sensory characteristics. Physicochemical analysis determined a pH of 4.32, slightly below the permitted range, but compatible with the natural pH of the skin, making it suitable for cosmetic use. Microbiological testing revealed the absence of molds and yeasts (<5 CFU/g) and a total viable mesophilic aerobic count within the established limits (5 CFU/g), ensuring the product's safety. Conclusion: The cream with Ricinus communis L. essential oil displayed adequate organoleptic and physicochemical characteristics and the absence of microbiological contamination, indicating its viability as a natural cosmetic product. These findings contribute to the development of safe and effective alternatives in natural cosmetics.

    Relación entre los parámetros microbiológicos del agua potable y el estado de salud en los hogares del A.H Pampa León – Villa María Del Triunfo, Lima Perú, 2024

    Introduction: Microbiological parameters are essential for the detection of pathogenic organisms, bacteria such as total coliforms and Escherichia coli in drinking water, increasing the likelihood of causing diseases by infectious agents of parasitic, bacterial, and viral origin. Objective: To determine the relationship between the microbiological parameters of drinking water and the health status in homes in the A.H Pampa León - Villa Maria del Triunfo, Lima-Peru 2024. Methodology: A hypothetical-deductive study with a quantitative approach was carried out, 83 samples stored in the largest volume tanks were collected, 1 sample for each home in 3 stages, the first day of water entering the largest volume tanks, each stage after the water had been stored for 3 days, and the third after 7 days of water being stored in the largest volume tanks. Total coliforms and Escherichia coli were analyzed as indicators of contamination. Results and Conclusions: There was a significant and moderate to strong association between E. coli levels and the presence of gastrointestinal diseases (p = 0.002, Cramer's V = 0.396) and also a moderate association between total coliform levels and gastrointestinal diseases (p = 0.014, Cramer's V = 0.327).

    Resistencia bacteriana en análisis microbiológicos en pacientes adultos hospitalizados en el área de Medicina del Hospital Santa Rosa. Lima 2023

    Bacterial resistance is a critical issue in public health, and over the years it has become an increasing problem among patients. The present research is a descriptive cross-sectional study, whose main objective was to determine bacterial resistance in microbiological analyses of adult patients hospitalized in the Medicine ward of Santa Rosa Hospital, in order to provide further information on the evolution of resistance to antibiotics. The information was obtained from microbiological reports of hospitalized patients, with a total of 101 positive results. The most frequently identified microorganism was Escherichia coli (47.5%), followed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (11.9%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (9.9%). Regarding resistance, Escherichia coli showed 70.8% resistance to ciprofloxacin, Pseudomonas aeruginosa exhibited higher resistance to ciprofloxacin (72.7%) and cefepime (66.7%), and Klebsiella pneumoniae to ciprofloxacin (70%) and cephalothin (66.7%). In terms of sample distribution, 65.3% corresponded to urine cultures, 22.8% to special cultures, and 11.9% to blood cultures. A total of 70% of reports were from female patients and 30% from male patients, with a mean age of 61.7 years, the highest proportion being among patients aged 60 and older. The information obtained on bacterial resistance aims to provide updated data for clinical decision-making.

    Validación de aptitud del método microbiológico de recuento y microorganismos específicos para sulfametoxazol + trimetoprima en tableta recubierta

    This thesis examined two combinations of active pharmaceutical ingredients that produce a synergistic antimicrobial effect against various test microorganisms. The objective was to validate the suitability of the microbiological method for microbial count and specific microorganisms in coated tablets of Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim, applying both the direct inoculation and membrane filtration methods in accordance with the official standards of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP 42). The results demonstrated that the direct inoculation method, using neutralizing broth medium, was the most appropriate, as it produced more accurate and precise microbial counts across the three test batches. The results complied with the established parameters, meeting the requirements for suitability, growth promotion, and strain standardization, thus validating the microbiological test. On the other hand, the membrane filtration method yielded limited recovery due to the amount of supernatant generated by the sample when diluted with the culture medium, making it unsuitable for solid products. In conclusion, the direct inoculation method proved suitable for microbial count and specific microorganism analyses, while the membrane filtration method was not appropriate for microorganism recovery in coated tablets.
