Effect of hydrogen peroxide at 35% with and without LED lamp activation on enamel microhardness
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-05) Luna Oro, Fiorella Estefani; Gómez Carrión, Christian Esteban
This experimental study aimed to compare the effect of 35% hydrogen peroxide with and without the activation of an LED lamp on enamel microhardness. The methodology of this study was experimental, using a sample of 30 teeth, which were measured with the Vickers instrument. The teeth were divided into two groups: Control group: 15 dental pieces exposed to 35% hydrogen peroxide, and the sample group: 15 dental pieces exposed to 35% hydrogen peroxide with the use of an LED lamp. The results, obtained through the parametric t-test, determined that there were minimal differences (p = 0.001) in enamel microhardness between the initial and final values of the enamel exposed to 35% hydrogen peroxide with and without LED light. Therefore, it was concluded that there are no significant differences in the loss of enamel microhardness according to the presence or absence of LED during the tooth whitening with 35% hydrogen peroxide.

Effect of salbutamol and budesonide inhalers on dental enamel microhardness
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-10-05) Encalada Bohórquez, Shesira; Vilchez Bellido, Dina
Objective: To determine the effect of salbutamol and budesonide inhalers on the microhardness of dental enamel. Materials and Method: Experimental (in vitro), cross-sectional, and prospective study. The study was conducted using 30 bovine dental samples, which were divided into two groups. The first group was administered salbutamol, and the second group was administered budesonide every 8 hours for 30 days. Indentations were made on days 7, 14, and 30 using a microhardness tester to measure the enamel microhardness in each sample. Results: Using the Vickers test, the initial average microhardness of the samples was 308.72 Kg/mm². The final microhardness of the samples exposed to salbutamol was 274 Kg/mm², and the final microhardness of the samples exposed to budesonide was 291.16 Kg/mm², showing that the microhardness of the dental samples decreased significantly in both inhaler groups (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Both inhalers have a negative effect on dental enamel microhardness. The inhaler that has a greater negative effect on microhardness is salbutamol compared to budesonide.

Erosive effect of effervescent vitamin supplements on enamel microhardness, in vitro study
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-04) Chinchay Espinoza, Hilda; Vilchez Bellido, Dina
The objective of this study was to evaluate the erosive effect of effervescent vitamin supplements on enamel microhardness over time, in vitro. Materials and Methods: The study was experimental, using 50 bovine teeth, divided into five groups based on the effervescent vitamin supplements Redoxon, Supradyn, and Berocca Plus, as well as a positive control (carbonated beverage Coca-Cola) and a negative control (distilled water). Enamel microhardness was assessed in vitro using the Vickers test before exposure, at 1 minute, and at 10 minutes. Data analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA and paired T-tests. Results: A significant reduction in initial enamel microhardness was observed at 1 minute and at 10 minutes of exposure (p ≤ 0.05) for Redoxon (323.83 / 322.997 / 280.78 Kg/mm²), Supradyn (343.53 / 342.72 / 306.84 Kg/mm²), and Berocca Plus (331.15 / 329.63 / 286.57 Kg/mm²). Conclusions: The erosive effect of the effervescent vitamin supplements increased with exposure time, leading to a significant reduction in enamel microhardness.

Erosive Effect of Two Over-the-Counter Home Whitening Products on the market on enamel microhardness, In Vitro study
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-05-22) Briceño Oliveros, Crystel Milena; Vilchez Bellido, Dina
Objective: To evaluate the erosive effect of two over-the-counter home whitening products on enamel microhardness in vitro. Material and Method: The study was experimental, using 40 bovine teeth, divided into four groups according to the whitening product used: 20 MINUTES DENTAL WHITE, DAZZLING WHITE, POLA LUMINATE SDI (6% hydrogen peroxide, positive control), and saline solution (negative control). Enamel microhardness was assessed in vitro using the Vickers test before exposure, at 24 hours, and at 7 days. Results: There was a greater reduction in enamel microhardness after the application of the whitening products, with the greatest effect at 7 days observed with the 20 MINUTES DENTAL WHITE product (from 319.94 to 282.48 Kg/mm²), followed by DAZZLING WHITE (from 332.74 to 300.02 Kg/mm²) and POLA LUMINATE SDI (from 325.31 to 301.34 Kg/mm²), with statistically significant differences between before and after exposure to the products (p<0.05). Conclusions: There was an erosive effect of the home whitening products on enamel microhardness in vitro, which increased with the exposure time.

Whitening effect with 35% hydrogen peroxide and 35% carbamide peroxide on tooth enamel microhardness, in vitro, 2019
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-02-11) Valle Buendia, Cris Karen; Girano Castaños, Jorge Alberto
Objective: The objective of this experimental research work is to determine and compare the whitening effect of hydrogen peroxide at 35% and carbamide peroxide at 35% on enamel microhardness when subjected to the action of these whitening agents. A total of 51 dental samples were used, divided into 3 groups: 1 control group immersed in isotonic saline solution and 2 experimental groups subjected to the whitening agents according to the manufacturer's instructions. The enamel microhardness was measured using a Vickers durometer, considering the microhardness values of the enamel before and after being subjected to the whitening agents. The statistical test used in this study was the student t-test, which showed a highly significant difference (p<0.05) between the enamel microhardness values before and after exposure to the whitening agents. It was also observed that there is a greater decrease in enamel microhardness when samples are exposed to hydrogen peroxide at 35% compared to samples subjected to carbamide peroxide at 35%.
