Ítem Acceso abierto Validation of Ceramic Plaster as a Forensic Molder for Footwear Impressions(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2016-11-11) Roque Morales, Leopoldo Frank; Ascarza Gallegos, Justo AngeloThe ceramic plaster used as a forensic mold allows us to obtain the characteristics of a footwear print in low relief at a crime scene, enabling us to reconstruct, identify, and solve criminal cases. Therefore, the analysis of footprints is a mandatory procedure, especially when it occurs on malleable surfaces, on which the weight of the actors will leave a low-relief mark, which can be analyzed using a technique like forensic modeling. This technique does not require complex equipment or inaccessible reagents, but rather is a field procedure, simple to execute, and ensures the preservation, transfer, and custody of the sample. A methodology is proposed that does not use expensive equipment or inaccessible reagents, but instead designs an easy-to-execute protocol for forensic professionals. For this, a pre-analytical procedure was outlined to be carried out in the field, following the principles and foundations of obtaining the primary sample, meaning preserving and maintaining as many original characteristics as possible for proper laboratory analysis while ensuring its transfer and custody. To this end, tests were conducted with different types of plaster.
