Critical review: dietary intake changes in breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-10-05) Viera Aradiel, Jenifer Nerina Lisbet; Espinoza Rado, Erika Paola
Breast cancer is a disease that is characterized by the uncontrolled growth of cells. Most cancers form a mass called a tumor. This alteration makes it difficult for the body to function properly. Breast cancer can start in different parts of the breast: there are ductal, lobular and other less common cancers such as phyllodes and angiosarcoma. The search was carried out in a systematic computerized way in the search engines ELSEVIER, PUBMED, HINARI, COCHRANE, SCIELO, GOOGLE ACADÉMICO, DIMENSION, SCIENCEDIRECT, where the key words used in the search were dietary intake, changes in intake, perception of foods, chemotherapy and breast cancer. Types of study were included: clinical trials, cohorts and cases and controls, patients over 18 years of age, of both genders, with breast cancer, with chemotherapy treatment were included. The results that were measured: the side effects of chemotherapy can affect food intake in both quality and quality, finding that there are significant changes in protein foods (P <0.001), fat (P <0.001), MUFA (P <0.001), phosphorus (P <0.001), sodium (P <0.001) and tryptophan. Likewise, it was found that the majority of patients experience nausea, vomiting, changes in taste and smell, which causes a reduction in food intake. It was concluded that chemotherapy has negative effects that harm the quality of life and health status of patients.

Critical review: effect of omega-3 supplementation on the reduction of symptoms of arthralgia in adult women with breast cancer
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-20) Menacho Flores, Rosario Nora; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea Lisbet
Omega-3 fatty acids play a role in nutritional treatment due to their therapeutic effect on cancer, mainly because of their anti-inflammatory properties, and should be incorporated into the diet. Patients undergoing hormone therapy with aromatase inhibitors for hormone-positive breast cancer are more likely to experience arthralgia, leading to early treatment interruption. The objective was to determine the effect of Omega-3 supplementation on improving arthralgia symptoms in these patients. Information was searched on PUBMED, COCHRANE, and SCIENCE DIRECT, finding 32 articles, 10 of which were evaluated using the CASPE critical reading tool. Finally, a systematic review and network meta-analysis were selected, with a level of evidence AI and a strong recommendation grade. The critical discussion concluded that taking Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) supplements, on average 3.3g/day with a 40:20 EPA/DHA ratio for 24 weeks, reduced the worst pain scale, though no significant difference was found compared to placebo or other treatments. The risk of side effects was low in breast cancer patients with arthralgia.

Critical review: relationship between serum vitamin D levels and breast cancer risk.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-07-13) Morales Rios, Edith Jacinta; Bohórquez Medina, Sofia Lorena
Breast cancer is currently the cancer that affects women with the highest prevalence, positioning itself as the type of cancer with the highest mortality rate worldwide. On the other hand, vitamin D is one of the micronutrients with various fundamental metabolic and physiological functions in some organs of the human body, such as the liver, heart, lungs, intestines, bones, and mammary glands, where it acts as a vitamin receptor. D (VDR). In addition, it exerts immunomodulatory and antiproliferative effects, therefore, evidence-based research is required to analyze the importance of this vitamin in the prevention, development, as well as treatment of breast cancer. By virtue of the above, the present research: “critical review: Relationship between serum levels of vitamin D and the risk of breast cancer”, aimed to identify the relationship between serum levels of vitamin D and the risk of breast cancer. . Therefore, the following research question was asked: “Are low levels of vitamin D related to an increased risk of breast cancer in adult women?” The search for scientific articles was carried out in five scientific bases, SCOPUS, PUBMED, EMBASE, WEB OF SCIENCE, SCIENCE DIRECT. 121 articles were found, of which 23 were selected by carrying out the evaluation, and selection of the article for the critical comment, which is a systematic review and meta-analysis titled: “Vitamin D and breast cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies”, with the highest level of evidence and recommendation (I and I respectively). After analyzing the selected article, by writing the critical comment, it can be concluded that 25 (OH) D deficiency was directly related to breast cancer and that sun exposure can help prevent breast cancer. more efficient than ingesting it through food supplements.

Efectos de la movilización miofascial en la discapacidad funcional del miembro superior en pacientes mastectomizadas en clínica oncológica de Chiclayo, 2025
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-10-14) Ramirez Valencia, Rebeca; Bejarano Ambrosio, Miriam Juvit
