Prevention should be a priority because it can reduce morbidity and mortality, reduce costs of care, and improve patient safety. The objective of this research was to determine the probability of acquiring nosocomial pneumonia in patients with prolonged mechanical ventilation in a public hospital in Lima. Material and method: the design is quantitative, with a descriptive and transversal design. The population will be made up of 50 adult patients who are in the intensive care unit and who meet the inclusion criteria and additionally signed the informed consent. In order to collect data, an observation guide was used; structured consists of two parts, such as the questionnaire and the CPIS scoring system is an additive scale, where six types of items are used, from whose value the probability that a clinical condition appeared after admission to a hospital is derived. of nosocomial pneumonia.
