Ítem Acceso abierto Behavior evaluation using the nitrous oxide sedation technique in children from 5 to 8 years of age during invasive treatments in a private dental clinic, Lima 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-14) Suarez Ayala, Lissette; Arauzo Sinchez, Carlos JavierThe objective of this research was to evaluate the behavior of children aged 5 to 8 years during invasive treatments using nitrous oxide sedation in a private dental clinic in Lima, 2022. The study followed a quantitative approach, basic research, non-experimental, and cross-sectional design. The population and sample consisted of 60 children aged 5 to 8 years who were treated with nitrous oxide sedation during invasive procedures at a private dental clinic in Lima in 2022. The Houpt scale was used as the instrument. Descriptive statistics, frequency tables, bar graphs, and cross-tabulations were calculated using SPSS v. 23. The results showed that 78.3% of the children did not cry, 96.7% were awake and reactive, and 90% showed intermittent or no movement. The study concluded that 95% of the cases reported positive behavior, which was significant, demonstrating the effectiveness of the nitrous oxide sedation procedure.
