Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of physical agents in improving spasticity and motor function post stroke.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-03-25) More Espinoza, Yeny Elva; Rivera Lozada de Bonilla, OrianaObjective: To systematize evidence on the efficacy of physical agents in improving spasticity and motor function following a cerebrovascular accident (CVA). Materials and Methods: A total of 10 studies were definitively selected. The systematic review of these 10 scientific articles on the efficacy of physical agents in improving spasticity and motor function post-CVA was conducted using the databases Lilacs, PubMed, Medline, and Cochrane Plus. The included studies comprised 3 systematic reviews and meta-analyses, 2 systematic reviews, 1 meta-analysis, and 4 randomized clinical trials. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 80% (8/10) agreed that there is sufficient scientific evidence supporting neuromuscular/functional electrical stimulation as the most effective intervention among all physical methods for improving spasticity and motor function post-CVA. Conclusions: The studies confirm sufficient scientific evidence for neuromuscular/functional electrical stimulation as the most effective intervention among physical methods for improving spasticity and motor function post-CVA. Additionally, it enhances patients' activities of daily living.Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge and practices of biosafety measures in the nursing staff of the emergency service of a hospital in Callao - 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-09-04) Sánchez Alvarez, Yesenia; Montoro Valdivia, Marcos AntonioThe level of knowledge about biosafety measures practices refers to the degree of experience acquired by nursing staff through proper practice in the use of protective measures and barriers to prevent and avoid occupational accidents. This is important because there has been a growing observation of reduced use of biosafety measures, which increases the risk of contracting acute and chronic hospital-acquired infections. Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the practices of biosafety measures among nursing staff in the emergency department of a hospital in Callao, 2022. Methods: This research follows a hypothetical-deductive method, applied type, with a non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional design. Sample: The sample will consist of 85 nurses who meet the inclusion criteria and work in the emergency department of a hospital in Callao, 2022. Data will be collected through the application of two duly validated instruments: the first will be a questionnaire to measure the level of knowledge, and the second will be a checklist to assess the biosafety practices of the nursing staff.
